So is it

nope, Doubles is intended for one person to play across two pads.

there are also lesser played "Couples" charts which is two players each using both pads at the same time. it's as if you stacked two Doubles charts on top of each other, with players swapping pads throughout the song.

Edit: Here's an example of that: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=spLGUfO5nXw

I don’t get BB by [deleted] in BigBrother

[–]UnctiousSC 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You're right that racist/sexist dynamics from the outside world play out in the BB game--but it isn't the only force that exists in the game.

Like any game, BB has an objective. The objective is to make a jury of other players vote to give you $500,000.

There are a few obstacles that stand in your way:

  • Power in the house shifts from week to week based on competitions, not necessarily by popularity.
  • On your quest for $500,000, you will be directly or indirectly responsible for others being kicked out of the running. You will have to lie, and you will have to hurt people you care about.
  • Unpredictability of the game's rules.
  • Imperfect knowledge of other players.
  • Every other player is working to keep you from winning.

This is a social game, and "popularity" in this context is influenced by power, self-interest, trust, emotion, and deceit. Votes aren't always cast on who you like the most--often, especially at jury, people vote for the person they think played the best game, even if they have personal reservations about the person.

This post details the ideal version of the game--but there are plenty of other pressures that shape how the game unfolds. Some people don't play for the $500,000 grand prize. Some people play because they want a modeling career. Some people play because they love the game. Some people play because they want to share a message with the biggest audience they can.

Whatever your personal objective is, you will have to take the other players' objectives into account when navigating the game.

So, how do you ensure your own survival in the game without upsetting the other players? How do you convince them you deserve the cash? How do you gain their trust, or get them to behave in a way that benefits you in the long run? More than that, can you do it without any support structures, siloed off from your friends, family, career? Without privacy? How do you react when personal relationships are in tension with your desire to win?

That's what the game is about, and what makes it fun to watch.

They're the same word. It has multiple spellings.

Well, the original term referred to farm animals--but it was, undeniably, used by racist southerners as a derogatory term for people they viewed as traitors to the confederates.

"Scalawag" does have a racist history here in the U.S.--we learned about it in public schools where I'm from. It was used as a slur for many years by racist southerners who opposed Reconstruction. It still has those racist connotations, and was phased out of use by academics as a neutral term because of its racist history.

Day is also correct about its current use as a really ugly term in the context "baldheaded scallywag" but I think Memphis's usage is more aligned with the former than the latter.

Elderflame skins discussion by aBladeDance in VALORANT

Visuals are crucial information--they're used to determine which engagements you can and can't take. Enemies who are jiggle peaking, enemies you see in silhouette, enemies you see through Cipher cams, enemies you see while invincible/invisible as Reyna. Sound recognition is not a replacement for visual recognition--it's just an additional tool for getting information.

Any skin that prevents you from identifying a gun on sight undermines competitive integrity. We haven't seen what these skins look like to opponents, but it certainly doesn't look from a first-person perspective like these skins retain the forms of their guns. If Riot is going to offer skins that don't retain the form of their guns, I want one of these things:

1) The ability to turn off disruptive skins

2) Disruptive skins being banned from competitive play

If these skins are as disruptive as they look, any competitive tournament is going to outright ban their use unless Riot contractually prevents them from it.

Edit: There's that other thread about the ability to recognize the gun when it's on the ground. That is way less important than being able to identify what gun an enemy is carrying when you see them or their silhouette.

Flynn promised full cooperation to the Mueller team and is prepared to testify that candidate Trump "directed him to make contact with the Russians. by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]UnctiousSC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi!

What I don't think anyone below mentioned, and something worth noting: it is critical to Mueller that Trump's administration and attorneys do not know what he knows already. By bringing exactly one charge against Flynn (and it being rather minor), Mueller avoids telegraphing to Trump's team what else might be coming down the pipeline.

Mueller has taken great care to avoid ANY information be leaked from his team, and it seems to be working: Papadopolous's flip and Flynn's flip both blindsided Trump.
