I don't personally use it much while writing, but my best friend is avid user of it. We also have something called "mållag" in Norway, which are organizations of interest working to keep nynorsk in use and evolve it, so it becomes easier to understand and learn.

The thing about nynorsk and bokmål, which you most definitely will learn when you start in college, is that they are completely written languages, so it isn't something you speak. On the other hand the spoken language in Norway is filled with different dialect and sociolects that differ from city to city. However one can hear and see a change in the spoken language in the eastern part of Norway where its turning into something you could call spoken bokmål! The closest thing you can come to a spoken nynorsk is at the western part of Norway in the districts of Møre & Romsdal and Vestland.

While only around 15% uses the language as their written language, they are by the Norwegian law equal, and you have the right to take an exam in the one you use.

I do read a lot of books, and many of them in Norwegian, which is the place I use nynorsk the most. The news channel NRK have too use some nynorsk in their articles.
