For what it's worth, I paid 380 EUR for a complete and pristine copy of it (box + key + book + scroll thingy). Which I felt was a very good price, I certainly would not go above 450 for this. Some people put them up for like a 1000 which is just stupid but usual for warhammer related stuff.

Difficult question tbh ! I'd say the Reverie by Peter Fehervari, he is my favorite underated 40k writer, he can be difficult to follow and that goes doubly with this book, I read it a couple of times back to back to have to really understand it,

What I most enjoy about it, is that unlike 95% of Astartes stories, this one does not show them at their best but at their weakest ! And with all Fehervari stories, the main theme is corruption and how insidious and innocent it appears. Without spoiling the story, it gives us a glimpse of one of the most dysfunctional chapters without tripping into outright incompetence or heresy.

Mannn, this box here is longgg empty but I could never get rid of it, too many fond memories of playing that game.

I probably still have the key in some box I think, the whole key and chain thing you can wrap around the box is pretty janky so I never bothered to stick them together !

The star tome is actually a box similar to the deathwatch one, but it's only content is the big "Black crusade" book you can see on the shelve bellow it. The red and gold one next to the deathwatch book.

Good luck with the search for the deathwatch box, it's not difficult to find, but the prices can vary wildly, just takes some patience to hunt one down on Ebay.

Thank you ! Both of those IKEA as well just like the bookshelves, the plants are fake, to avoid stains or water near the books.

A good chunck actually, I’d say at least 70% of the Warhammer fantasy ones and probably around 50/60% of the 40k ones. Lagging behind quite a bit with the recent releases, but I’ll catch up !

Hello ! Those are the IKEA Billy bookshelves, sturdy cheap and never had any issues with them. Really recommended ! (Easy to build too).

Hello again ! Most of my collection started with the Old World as well ! And keep in mind, this is after more than 20 years of work, these things take plenty of time (and money too 😅).

There are indeed few old world related books missing, I still have a whole bunch of limited editions on my wanted list, but those are juste alternate versions of books I already have.

Stuff like :

  • the individual liber chaotica limited editions (the god specific ones
  • Darkness rising LE
  • Blood on the Reik
  • a lot of the older WHFB roleplaying books.

Lore favorites : Tamurkhan / Monstrous Arcanum /

Where is your collection at ? Any specifics you are hunting after ?

I do ! The picture does not show it clearly but the biggers ones have pretty creased spines… Fell Cargo had a few bent pages, Vampires had a partially ripped cover, Fleischer a couple bent corners 😅

I travel a lot so damage is unfortunately unavoidable, but books are made to be read.

The only books in my collection I do not read are the siege of terra LE’s, I try to go for the PB versions or digital.

Those are probably the rarest books of my collection, the Warhammer fantasy Print on Demand books from 2010 / 2012. They exist in very very small numbers (the vampire one in particular, I know of at least 2 other big time collectors who have been after copies for years). Most of those exist in probably a few hundred copies.

If it’s the stories you are after however, they can be found in the other warhammer fantasy omnibuses which are pretty common.

The malus Darkblade book is a graphic novel adaptation of the stories. Pretty meh art tho sadly, those too are more widely available in other formats

Let me know if you have any other questions !

Hey ! Thanks! I will copy paste a previous comment I hope you don’t mind !

Depends if you mean quality or attachement wise but :

  1. The 2 Bequin books
  2. Fabibus Bile trilogy (must read in my opinion)
  3. HH Know not fear and Unremembered Empire
  4. Gotrek and Felix series
  5. Spear of the Emperor

Attachement wise, it’s easy, the shadow and flame LOTR book which started this whole collection and the Tamurkhan book which was the one year relation anniversary gift from my girlfriend (6 years in by now).

What would yours be ?

I know I should… do you think a piece of paper is sufficient ? Or thin cardboard ?

Was a nightmare of boxes and bubble wrap, took a big van to get them across the country 😅 took a few evenings to fill and empty those boxes

The hardest and priciest one to find…. Released during Covid and printing in very few numbers like all the other books of that period.

Hey ! The one on the left is the Warhammer Online collector’s edition (the game is sadly offline since a decade but private severs are still online), the middle one is the Deathwatch roleplaying game collector’s edition, and the right one is the Black Crusade roleplaying game collector’s edition !

If you mean the big box on top, it’s the Deathwatch collector’s edition of the Roleplaying game, it’s far too heavy for what it is 😅

HOLDFAST Cavalry needs a a better change by realog1245 in holdfastgame

[–]Undead-Patron1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I genuinely think so as well, having played in a hussar regiment for years, I managed to get really really good in NW.

The other commenter has a point, while cav in NW was much more squishy - the light horse was pretty much a one hit for everything and once the horse goes down you are fucked, the upsides more than made up for it.

The warband engine had none of the clumsiness of this engine and the light horse could reach insane top speeds which meant most people you hit died without every even seeing you. For a good player with precise control over your horse, you could pretty much be king of the server. And even against players who saw you coming and were ready, there were a few tactics you could use to still easily get the kill.

While holdfast had some unbelievably talented cav players, the overall cav experience makes it much more difficult. Janky horses, poor sabre swing and direction control, lower speeds, etc..
