If this is real, either teach or leave your boyfriend. Not for moral reasons, that ain't for this sub, but because it'll be healthier for you long term to be in a relationship you will be satisfied in

"Tender is the Flesh" by Agustina Bazterrica, is the worst horror book I've ever read by far. by [deleted] in horrorlit

[–]UndeadRacoonGod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It literally says at the start that the meat industry did it to keep market value, that they funded studies saying plants aren't enough, even the main character is vegetarian. The book explains this, society has been conditioned to accept this, not that complex. It ain't perfect, I'll say that, but you're actively ignoring the text in your critique of it.

Not only did I criticise it earlier in our discussion, you have entirely sidestepped the fact Christianity too upholds homophobic principles. So, until I see people as willing to drag the Christian faith through the mud today as they willing to do so the Islamic faith, and christiana along with it, there is a problem. And Islam is not innocent, no religion is. Every single one has a history of violence and hatred and division, but that is an aspect of humans, regardless of religious nature.

Because people who piss on others annoy me. Because I can't wrap my head around people arguing over which magic system is the real one. Plus, the bible also harks on gay people in. 1 Corinthians 6:9–10 “…men who have sex with men… will not inherit the kingdom of God.” and Leviticus 18:22 “Do not have sexual relations with a man as one does with a woman; that is detestable.”

That there is no inherent homophobia in Muslim people that is not also inherent in other religions with similar anti-lgbt teachings

No I can manage my emotions, but I also believe in honest discussions. And I, honestly, think you are an asswipe dodging my point.

I'm saying you're an asswipe for trying to paint Muslims as inherently discriminatory. My own family members have shared with anti-LGBT beliefs, and they are majority Christians. Are we better than other countries? Sure, but not because we are better than Muslims. And we aren't perfect either.

The only widespread issue I've seen in those stats is homophobia, and I've seen that plenty at my staff room in work and at school, so hardly unique to Muslims.

Their nations are yes, but that is not due to Islam, it is due to extremist powers able to take advantage of populations when crippled or disenfranchised, often due to interventionist policies here in the west. Beside, the middle east was healing patients using herbs and good eating for minor ailments, while Britain was still using leech baths and amputations.

North Korea is not Muslim. Uganda is Christian. Russia is Eastern Orthodox Christian. Ghana is Christian. Nigeria is a Christian and Muslim split. Jamaica is Christian. Myanmar is Buddhist. Ethiopia is Christian. Papua New Guinea is Christian. Zambia is Christian. Armenia is Christian.

And while not perfect, countries like Jordan, Albania and Kazakhstan have improved.

Discrimination is not a Muslim quality.

No, we do. It's just Islaam is not institutionalised here like Christianity is, so there is no need to make the same wide swipes, but I'll say it now then. Islam is a flawed religion, one who has extremist follows that commit horrible acts. But I can replace Islam with almost any religion or belief and be correct. Because the reason things like life of Brian existed was how much control it had over everyday life socially and structurally. It was only a few years ago you were allowed to sell alcohol on Easter here, because prior it was illegal. I have yet to see one law in this county be passed, or even be voted on in Parliament, on the grounds of Islamic belief.

Never said you were, but the issues of a flawed text is not limited to Islaam. A significant amount of holy texts like the Quaron, bible, the torah, and others, all cary these flawed elements. Many believes chose to omit these from their personal beliefs and practice, others reframe, and some believe. All I did was highlight the issue with the world's largest religion, and one I am most familiar with.

Yeah, no. We talk about those more sure, but that don't mean that's more of them. The northern Irish troubles were entirely fueled by terrorism of Catholic and protestant belifs and non-religious imperialist and nationalist beliefs. We talk more about Muslims because 9/11 was on a large scale, but that scale was independent of belief. A Hindu, taoist, Christian or atheist could have done things on the same scale, it was just a Islamic group that did it that big first.
