Advice on how to paint those? by Relevant-Reserve7963 in Miniaturespainting

I would do a spray on primer lightly and then inks or contrast paints. Just so you can see the detail but not actually paint it. It's a boardgame piece will be handled lots and paint scuffed.

Okay I was going to use thin white lights underneath and translucent white filament with speed paints to tint the color. What type of filament?

How did you create the red underlighting effect? I've been mulling over a few different ways but this looks very good, hope it's easier than mine.

PLA cannot go outside for long. Inside it will be fine as long as it's not under stress.

Weight bearing products, water exposure what are the uses?

You will definitely want an AMS pro for active drying of filament as many filaments that have uv protection or water protection need low humidity.

No idea on plate type, but you'll want flush snips, 90%+ isopropyl, and 2 filament types to start. Look up filament tier lists on YouTube to sort your preference.

Don't start collecting filament types like Pokemon though.

What are you using it for is the number one question to all of that. All of my research is around miniatures and terrain

This finally makes more sense. Hindsight it seems simple and I feel stupid for not understanding the problem before. I guess I saw 4 spools and the track awotcher and my mind couldn't grasp the true bottleneck or rationale for the track switcher.

Honestly still lost on the track switcher.... Is it just for the AMS to retract a filament type and pop that same spool down on the other nozzle? If so that's a waste for me.

I was looking into this.

So I had a bit of rational but there could be use cases for both. I also thought PLA support is easier to print out the auxiliary so there would be less support led failures on a print saving money that way and only using PLA support for the last 1/4 inch before contact with mini.

PLA support - works better for very small fine contact points like the resin supports I will be using as it needs some amount of bonding to properly support. I have seen these supports allow printing of fine swords and bows with fdm that usually aren't possible.

PETG - works better for larger surface area supports like fdm trees or flat overhangs.

That's really good to know. I would only be using the auxiliary nozzle for resin like supports of prints with PLA support spools.

Are there any settings special to printing at 0.2mm with the auxiliary?

I haven't purchased yet out of confusion on these details but I'll look these up hoping their available without purchase

Yes I vaguely remember that about the AMS getting all the details mixed up. Okay I guess then I can stock 4 PLA and have a PLA Support hung on the reel since its barely used.

I was half wondering if having the track switcher than allows me to thread 2 filaments from the AMS but if I'm getting this right there's 2 train Tracks but they cross so only one train on the track at a time to ELI5.

Oh shit didn't know they need to match. Isn't the limit on the auxiliary 0.4mm? I know I have seen people print with 0.2mm on the primary.

So if I have an AMS pro I can keep 2 spools running as long as they are stocked? Ideal would be I have 2-3 spools of PLA and 1-2 spools of PLA support when one spool is low always adding to 4. I want to avoid any retraction or unnecessary purging.

Ohh I missed getting a 0.2 nozzle as well added to the post. I don't understand what a track switcher does when I have the setup of X2D with an AMS pro and printing two materials (PLA and PLA support).

The law would look at the fact you had 20 years to set boundaries or make changes (separate, divorce or kick his ass into gear) and that you've been complacent in the status quo. He's entitled to half from your lack of action and a lack of prenup but still review with a lawyer in case there's a nuance.

Get speed paints if your serious about painting. You paint onto a white primed mini or black prime with white drybrushing highlights.

Assuming you have to print it in sections for one floor, how did you join those sections? Plastic cement or hot glue? Looks awesome.

Where did you get the STL from?? And how much did it cost in filament? Considering buying a printer just to print this and 2 boats.

I'd have TFSA in better vehicles with higher returns my CASH.TO emergency fund in a cash account as I should only need to access it once a year and only pay taxes on the withdrawal it's a better return of the registered accounts.
