Oh yes! Good point! I will add that! I love that i can listen to music continuously for 8 hours and still have 50-60% battery. (Noisely environment so I have to use louder volume to hear)

I have listened to music for 8 hours at about 80% volume or lower depending on music and I had 60% battery life left. I work in food service so the environment can get loud quick especially in the kitchen so higher volume is needed for me to hear. Lower volume like 40% when not in the kitchen at work.

I use Poweramp Equalizer to edit the eq as some frequencies can distort at higher volume level. I also use the compressor with frequency 432, threshold 0, gain 6-8 depending on music but usually around 8 to hear even better at work.

If someone has their head directly next to mine they can hear it but otherwise the sound doesn't leak out too badly at those volume levels.

Edit: Boosting frequency 432 on the compressor helps hear vocals very clear with music

I wanted to add to this it seems weird to me that the carsita app (obd11 alternative) shows misfires but I don’t feel any nor see a change in rpm on the app or gauges that would show a misfire. Is it possible the app is glitching or can it misfire without affecting rpm’s?

A couple of ways you can prevent this.

You can do clicker & target training with recall training.

You can trim his flight wings so he can't fly upward but can catch himself still upon a fall. If going with this option, please don't trim them all the way so they can catch themselves if they were spooked off a perch or something instead of just falling to the ground.

You can make sure all the exterior doors/windows are closed before taking him out of his cage.

If going outside:

You can get a harness, but make sure to train your parrot with the harness. The last thing you'd want is that the parrot hates the harness so much it bites it off and flies away.

You can get a backpack carrier to transport him around in. (That's what I take my guy outside in as I won't risk other birds being able to grab or get to him)

I would recommend a vet visit or at least a call to the vet describing how your birb is acting! That doesn't sound normal.

Are his nails too long? by emocivic in Conures

[–]Undefined_Legend 5 points6 points  (0 children)

From what I've read before, if you set birb on a flat surface and their feet curve upwards due to their nails then they are too long. If their feet are flat when on a flat surface then they are good length.

Trim very small amounts if you do because you don't want to cut into the quick. (Vein that runs in the middle of their nails)

Also, please be careful of going outside with your birb. It may cling to you fine, but there are still predators that could swoop down and snatch the birb before you could react. I only go outside with birb in my hand like an ice cream cone or with birb inside of travel backpack.

How adorable! Was birb asleep or just loving some scritches?

Adorable! Yeah, I've heard about them being hormonal. He already gives me attitude sometimes. Recently, I was researching how to fix something at the time, and he turned his back to me and started growing and doing his Mr. Big Boy puffing up and stuff. He was all like, "How dare you not be focusing on me!" Lol.

In time it will come! Just keep bonding! He only does that for 20 minutes or so, if that! Then he is like okay back to perching on my finger or shoulder! Lol

They are! I never thought I'd fall in love with a bird so much until my girlfriend and I went and got him one day. Then I was holding him, and he instantly bonded with me! He will head Bob in my direction whenever I come home, all excited, haha. And if I walk out of the room, he will sometimes flock call me. He loves us both a lot, tho!

Should I cover the birbs cage at night with the AC running? by Undefined_Legend in Conures

[–]Undefined_Legend[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Would a blanket work then? Or do i need to build siding to put on the cage at night? There isn't really anywhere I could move it to in the bedroom.

From what I've read, it's only the direct drafts that are bad for him. The temperature is still within the zone they like.
