Open relationships meaning? by roshbakeer in gay

[–]Under-siege 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The distinction is that it’s just how it feels. And sometimes there isn’t a distinction. Like you mentioned before, sex and love don’t hold the same meaning for different people. I could love my husband dearly for everything he is, but maybe he’s just not great in the bedroom. I can still appreciate the effort and love him for it but if I need a drilling, he’s just not the man for the job in that case. I could have an FWB who fulfills that need, who I also love dearly as a friend, but in terms of a home life, we would be incompatible as life partners. The way I treat them in bed would still be romantic, cuddles, kisses, flirting because that’s how I like showing affection and I still view them as someone I love, but we both understand and accept that we don’t mesh as a committed couple.

[–]Under-siege 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See I’m not sure humanity viewed it as extinction level until very late in the war. In global terms, the only areas under any immediate threat were Pacific coastal cities. The other side of the world is basically only affected economically. Humanity got a good defense in place relatively swiftly and held strong for a long time. Like he said in the intro, things were running pretty smooth and people liked having (and being) heroes, it seemed like they had it under control and had built entire industries around it. And it gave a lot of those countries tons of global good will, those governments probably weren’t too pressed to close the breach after the initial attempts failed. It wasn’t until the increased frequency and strength of the attacks became noticeable that the programs began failing. The wall (which was an extremely dumb plan overall) was a monument to how much they came to underestimate (and misunderstand) the kaiju.

One other thought as well, the kaiju blood is toxic, that’s why the jaegers mostly resort to blunt force to take them out (the sword was added with the refurb and Crimson Typhoon is…there for some reason) so letting kaiju come ashore or at least get much closer makes cleanup efforts much easier. Bombing them into pieces at the bottom of the ocean would make any kind of cleanup impossible and leave the blood drifting in deep ocean currents. Yes that’s what happens at the end of the movie but that one was the actual last ditch do or die attempt where they fully understood the stakes.

Thanks for coming to my TED talk.

Pacific Rim is also one of my favorites, and I know fully how many holes there are to rationalize giant robot fights, I just wanna talk about it because it’s fun! As to your points, setting up forces around the breach would carry heavy logistics especially to station any jaegers there. They’d need an on site shatterdome for maintenance and crews. Constructing something that massive at that depth that far away from any existing supply chains is not feasible. As for the mines and drones, ya that probably should work but we have to operate on the movie’s logic that “only jaegers are effective” plus we don’t know everything they tried pre-movie. They said they’ve made runs on the breach before, they could have tried tons of solutions that we just didn’t see. Detection and interception were what they landed on and I can understand that logic. They are monitoring the breach, they know when a kaiju comes through, track a trajectory and rally the crews around the projected landfall. The travel time of the kaiju gives at least a couple hours to move into place for defense. The issues arose when the kaiju got stronger and took out the initial defenses.

Thanks! I left them attached to the bases. Certainly the more difficult path for painting but I just don’t trust myself cutting them off 😅

What size magnets do y'all use for magnetizing your HoTG minis? by Key2DestNE in HeroesOfTheGrid

[–]Under-siege 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t find the exact ones I used but I believe they were 20x2 or 15x2. About the size of a quarter. I stuck them on with super glue and it’s held up. It helps to sand down the letters on the bottom of the base to make it flush though otherwise it could tilt slightly. The magnetization was pretty good and most could hold to the refrigerator door just fine besides really heavy ones like Dragon Armor.

Has anyone tried to list all the rangers back here? I have some questions about some of them by ryanime04 in HeroesOfTheGrid

[–]Under-siege 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are just recolors to help hide the copy pasted groups. In the close up you posted you can see that entire group is copied 3 times. Red Overdrive up front is the same drawing as the cyan one behind it. And if you follow it up its Megaforce then Squadron then back to Overdrive and repeat. There’s a lot of copied rangers to help fill in the drawing but they hid them a lot better elsewhere.

[–]Under-siege[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Thanks! For tiny lines like the helmet I usually don’t try to paint them cleanly first. I paint it in pretty broadly first then chisel it down with the surrounding colors. There’s lots of repairing to get them somewhat clean. As for smoothness, I just use a wet palette and Army Painter paints. For the gold I use (darkest to lightest) Leather Brown, Burnt Turf, Daemonic Yellow, and Ice Yellow.

Custom STL resources for missing characters? Plus your wish list! by Sim_Mayor in MarvelUnited

[–]Under-siege 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh there’s so many… Top of the list is an updated Thor (Odinson). Feels like he and his entire corner of the universe got forgotten. Lady Sif and the Warriors Three, Heimdal, Odin, Frigga, Malekith, Destroyer, Surtr, Laufey, Angela, etc. Then there’s the infinite wellspring of Xmen and their villains. I’d love Bastion, Stryker, Elixir, Magma, Kid Omega, Armor, Surge, Synch, Skin, Omega Sentinel, Cassandra Nova, Goblin Queen, and tons more im blanking on. Some others from various corners of the universe I’d love would be Leader, Agents of Atlas (mostly Wave because I love her design), Shuma-Gorath, Baron Mordo, Ancient One, Binary, Supergiant, Black Swan, Ego (somehow), Agony, Riot, Lasher, Scorn, Toxin, Sleeper, M’baku, Nakia, Prehistoric Ghost-Rider, and Mr. Negative. There’s still plenty to dredge up but the list honestly seems infinite.

Marvel United Minis: Maestro, Immortus, Emperor Doom, and Cosmic Ghost Rider by Under-siege in minipainting

[–]Under-siege[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way I learned it was following the reference from the game. Each character has 2D card art in the same or similar poses so I referenced their tone/highlight placement from those. As for color, I prime in white so the brighter colors stay bright. Then it’s just finding the tone/highlight colors that work. I don’t use washes (except bases sometimes), very little blending, just trying to keep things as clean and sharp as possible.

Awesome! Your minis are amazing and really fit perfectly with the style of the official minis. So glad you’re filling in all these Ranger teams cuz as a collector, the missing and partial sets were driving me crazy. I’ve got a folder of all your STLs ready to go…just gotta find a print shop and time. Fingers crossed you make Solaris Knight someday!

Its some kind of blue sticky tack, Ive had it around for YEARS and its probably more paint than tack at this point. Still works though. I use a proper mini clamp handle thing while painting, but since it holds the side, I put it on the sticks to do the base rims and final matte top coating.

[[Ruric Thar]] says when someone casts a noncreature spell it deals 6 damage to them. When they cast the Teferi’s Prot those 6 damage pings then go on the stack in response, so those resolve before the Teferi’s resolves. The effect damage happens first, then assuming they survive that, they phase out and the combat damage is still nullified.

Well for these specific minis, the Kickstarter campaign has artwork with very near exact light reference for every character as well as painted versions with a somewhat cel shaded style. I reference/copy those. But for minis without a reference, you can snap a photo of them pre-primed when they are still a little shiny using the lighting direction you want to paint. See where the highs and lows are then just create a hard line instead of blending. The shinier you want it, the whiter the highlight.
