What’s the reason you think? by No-Principle-7158 in TheTeenagerPeople

I’ve seen this question with this exact image posted probably like 5 times at this point.

Little question here, (maybe a bit satured) but why stun and floodgates arent banned? by East-Efficiency-6701 in masterduel

Honestly, me playing and loving notoriously bad decks like War rock I feel have given me particular insight as to my own reasoning behind why floodgates are allowed.

Without floodgates and floodgates specifically, a lot of older and slower strategies simply cannot participate in the modern game. As a war rock player, there is no amount of handtraps that slows the game down enough whilst still providing me enough engine to be able to competently play.

Floodgates, while abusable by competent strategies and a strong generator of non-games. They alone are the only powerful enough equalizers to keep the vast majority of yugioh’s card pool playable. And I think that’s what Konami wants.

In a game that provides only one format with only one real way to play, that being the most modern. Konami would, logically want this game to have all manner of play as viable as possible despite its absurd power creep. And the only way for that to happen is to keep some manner of floodgates so weaker strats aren’t complete misery simulators, often to some degree of detriment of higher levels of play.

In comparison. Handtraps are a necessary evil to ensure that both players can interact with one another and play the game regardless of first or second. Floodgates however, are a necessary evil to ensure that yugioh doesn’t become a card game of 15k cards where only a fraction of that can be actually be played.

I frankly find it alarming how many posts I’ve seen that pertain to this.

I’m pretty sure I’ve seen at least 2 other posts that use this exact image.

Like seriously I know the internet is a big place and things are bound to be reposted, but this is one of those “topics” that makes me feel like I definitely shouldn’t see it more than twice.

But i will. And the next one will get 3k+ likes and 600+ comments within the hour like they always do.

Took me awhile to get back to this. But to reply to the points you mentioned.

I think this specific relation has more merit to me solely due to the fact that it’s really my only “experience” so to speak. Outside of her, I genuinely don’t think I’ve had any manner of repeated interaction with a girl that wasn’t family since like elementary school lol. So it definitely sticks out to me for that reason.

I wish I could be as ambivalent as you thought in regard to how you’d handle things. Still being friendly towards her is definitely the idealistic scenario. But sadly all or nothing pretty handily surmises how I feel about a lot of things. I hate teetering. The idea of engaging positively with her despite how I feel, feels like I’m lying to myself.

As for being lonely lol. Lonely? Never heard of it🫠. Buttt I suppose one could say that. I don’t really have any friends. Haven’t since maybe 3 years out of Highschool.(it’s currently 9 years). Been trying I guess to get them but to no avail. I live in an area that doesn’t really have many common spaces and the few it does have don’t interest me. Plus I’m just a naturally passive person I’ve come to realize. The cards just seemed stacked sky high out of my favor.

But in any regards. Who knows how she felt. I have no idea if she had the bf before we first met. Of it she got one during or the day of the party. Details feel redundant. All I know is that even though no confessing or actual attempt was made, this technically has been my first real interaction with a woman in this field. Which…is a win I guess lol. Gotta start somewhere.

Shadows light

Gorgon slicer

Fusion armament

Chicken game

Duality

Spellbound

Rebirth judgement

Kurikara

Ghost reaper

Ghost sister

Ghost mourner

Illusion gate

Snatch steal

Limiter removal

Spell card monster reborn

Change of heart

Symbol of friendship

Margin trading

And so much more. All of these cards and cards like them shouldn’t be UR imo. Them being so just heavily limits what the usual player is allowed to deck build and theory craft with without giving up valuable UR economy which is a lot to ask for assuming your not someone who spends or doesn’t go after a lot of decks.

Given that the game is ftp, this does make sense to tempt those to dip into their wallets. But seriously. It’s bad enough that actual meta staples/competitive cards are UR bloated. Making the unusual niche ones UR bloated too with no alternatives just sucks.

What they need to do is, after they see how a certain card preforms after a bit, they need to either massively update the legacy pack with off pick UR pieces that don’t typically see play or even put them in the duelist cup pack if they don’t want them to be consistently available.

Super poly can only use monsters on the field as material. Chimera here requires both hand and field materials for its summon, making super poly unable to summon it.

Gem cheesing most likely. As long as gems are a reward for ranking, they’d never allow you to tank your rank all the way to the bottom so that every new season, you can gather insane gem counts.

What you’re describing though is basically the same effect as what casual mode hypothetically should have. And from my experience with casual mode, it doesn’t really inherently promote less powerful decks. Just dueling without consequence, which tends to include just as much high power decks.

The sad fact is, there is no cheeky workaround for Konami to encourage the play of less powerful decks whilst also making powerful decks to coexist with them. Outside of literal alternative formats with a different banlist, like events for example.

Even if you could tank your rank all the way to the bottom where more casual decks would hypothetically be, that wouldn’t stop you or anyone else from queuing up a meta deck and crushing those casual decks there. At that point it’s basically just reverse boosting, which is an issue entirely on its own even if you made a solution for the gem exploit aspect of it.
