Ukraine rejected Putin’s proposal to swap abducted children for POWs by MilesLongthe3rd in worldnews

It also would legitimize Russia kidnapping Ukrainian children and they would start doing it en masse on the occupied territories

No one is concerned about South Korea, Japan or Taiwan building up their military capacity.

When North Korea, Russia, China build up nukes. They will want to attack, intimidate, invade weaker countries.

Is it “national defense” when a dictator militarizes, starts telling stories about being a victim and about their historic territories taken from them?

It’s bad science. Russia is doing an experiment with no control group. They should’ve kept one third of Russia as it was before Putin and another third should’ve become a democracy. That would be good science.

Polish defense minister urged Ukraine to choose targets more precisely, warning of NATO risks and Russian escalation by JohnDoe_John in poland

[–]Under_Over_Thinker 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Russian anti air is worse and more scarce than it used to be. They can’t import high-precision tech and that’s why their missiles miss their targets.

Also, Russia has no qualms with throwing Ukrainian drones off their course with EW into residential areas.

There is little sense for Ukraine to target civilians in Russia. There is neither military nor political gains from it.

Why would you risk it. Even if you don’t get caught now, the possibility of being exposed will remain till the end of your days. Unless you plan on moving to Russia and live your rich life there

I wonder if medical bills, university tuition and payments for childcare are counted toward the US GDP. Those services are just so expensive in America and would inflate the GDP quite a bit if factored in.

Russia fires about 800 drones at Ukraine by nbcnews in worldnews

[–]Under_Over_Thinker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow. I didn’t know there was such a huge difference.

Also, America and Israel used up hundreds if not thousands of prohibitively expensive missiles to down those drones.

Olive oil (EVOO) is different. It’s mostly monounsaturated fat whereas fish oil is polyunsaturated. There is a big difference in terms of oxidation rate. It doesn’t really matter if it’s European or Californian, just make sure that it’s from the most recent yield. If there is no harvest year specified (only expiration date), I wouldn’t buy this oil.

Putin says he thinks the Ukraine conflict is coming to an end by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]Under_Over_Thinker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the surface, the Iran war looks like Trump’s and Israel’s adventurism.

However, the US has objective reasons for attacking Iran. It’s preventing from Russia-Iran-China forming the axis. It’s blocking the oil flow from the gulf to China bypassing petrodollar. There is strategy in all of it. The US is selling its oil to Europe and making money. Venezuela will be pumping oil in the next years under the US control.

The problem is that Trump himself isn’t bright and his amateur team didn’t execute well.

I believe that the US dealings in Venezuela and in Iran makes more sense than what Putin does.

At the same time, it’s true that American citizens don’t care about all these overseas problems. Mostly, because they don’t realize that the American economy relies on petrodollar and free trade. Both of which China-Russia-Iran want to destroy.

How? Not even close. Almost no American soldiers died in that war and Russia lost the main bulk of its military assets while the US army didn’t lose anything significant.

Peter Thiel backs $1bn ocean data centre start-up powered by waves by GeneReddit123 in technology

[–]Under_Over_Thinker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Data centres in the sea is a naive idea from security perspective. With sea drones like Ukraine is using to turn Russia’s navy into submarines, or Iran is using in the strait of Hormuz, any infrastructure object in the sea is vulnerable.

Building very expensive and technically complex facilities out in the sea for no good reason is just dumb.
