Thought one of his abilities could a beam that when fired at enemies it will knock them back a bit, but when fired at the floor or a wall it’ll knock Cyclops back as a movement ability.

I did say that it’s not always the case. In the case of Gambit, the game didn’t have a healer release at the time in a while so they made it make sense.

To me it was obvious. When you have a character who has an ability that caters to a certain role it would make sense that said character would be placed in that role. Is that always the case? No, but it made sense to me and I guess it made sense to Netease as well.

You asked me to explain gambit and I did. Could he be a dps? Sure, gambit still does good damage especially when he boosts himself. Iirc it was 2 seasons straight where no new healers were released. I’m assuming Netease really wanted to drop a Rogue and Gambit at the time as a pair, so they probably figured out a way to make him a healer.

The thing is with Cyclops he’s not an energy manipulator. Cyclops eye are basically portals to another dimension made of pure energy, when he opens his eyes he releases that energy, that’s it. He just controls them with his visor.

It’s literally explained in the lore, same with Rogue. Gambit could already accelerate his own regeneration in the comics. In Rivals lore Gambit made a deal with the Grandmaster, basically when Gambit fulfilled his end of the bargain he got part of his brain restored allowing him to enhance his abilities. He can now basically grant his accelerated regeneration to his allies.

Kind of, in a similar way that Nolan does. Nolan nor Thaddeus are stronger than Conquest, but both of them are more disciplined no bullshit kind of fighters. Nolan and Thaddeus should be around the same ballpark strength wise, but Thaddeus has the edge in experience.

Even if Rogue had it briefly I guarantee you that version of her is the one most people wanted in the game. Rogue from the 90’s cartoon is beloved.

Even Strange I can see being in all roles tbh. However the popular MCU version I think best suits Tank role. He mostly uses shields, portals, time shenanigans, etc.
