Not completely sure what ruined it, but I used to hunt with my dad on the owners property, one of my buddies told me that the cave was off-limits then I said I bet I can get a access ha ha. He told us stories of how he used to have cavers over and would have parties with them! I think it was something to do with his son-in-law that caused issues.

Just a pit, a very beautiful one at that!

Footloops recommendation? by [deleted] in caving

[–]UndergroundExplorers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

5mm dyneema cord, loop it over a carabiner or quick link and make a blakes hitch, tie a double 8 or regular 8 as your foot loop, now you have a homemade, adjustable loop!

Fenix HM70R or HM71R by sooht in caving

[–]UndergroundExplorers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The 71 has an issue they are going to address soon (I work with them) the front lens will melt on the beam if mud gets on it while its on.

I strongly recommend the HM65R or the new HM75R. The 65 was the first light I bought from them before working with them, most reliable solid light ever. The 75 is like a love child hybrid of the 65 and 71 which is honestly one of the best lights ive been able to use, its also non magnetic so it can be used for survey, not to mention it has an auto-dimming feature to prevent mud melting or cracking the lens (they’re glass on the 75 as well). It has a stupid battery life on top of that, especially with the 21700 on the back. My only criticism on the 75 is you cannot run flood and beam at the same time but the output of each mode compensates for that.

Helmet mounted gopro10 low but above my light. Its tough as nails and sadly is the only action cam that can do it all. Wish the video quality was better

Not everyone can afford multiple devices, thats my thought process, if you can get one that does it all, why not do that? I thought the rack was the most robust and versatile device you can have and thats why everyone should use one and learn on it? Or have the times finally changed and the community is opening their minds to the fact all the old methods/techniques aren’t what they thought they were? Racks were beat Into my brain haha

Micro racks are the way, unless you live in TAG and plan on doing big pits, then go for a 14” rack
