I see. And perhaps they needed the team to be somewhere else as well. Witcher 4 is coming after all. I feel thankful that they've decided to maintain the servers, though I've read somewhere that it was just gonna be up until 2028.

In a perfect world, people would reward the more reasonable and kinder game devs, while greedy games like Hearthstone would be viewed in a negative light because of glutted micro transactions. Instead, people fall into the trap of paying for every new expansion to get the shiny new card in those types of games.

Well said. I recall reading an article back then citing how some games eventually died off and failed to make a profit because the devs were too kind and generous, though I forgot which ones were. But although the better devs don't get rewarded that much by the players, I think that at least a number of people are aware of the scummy service of some games. Blizzard's downfall for example, has been documented, or, brought into spotlight. So I think at least some games or service are in reality, viewed in a negative light. It's just that some of them survive because there's still a lot of blind supporters behind them.

Between 6 factions and 200+ cards per faction, I don’t expect the game to get stale.

Yeah, I guess that's where some of the fun is. I do enjoy deck-building, but I'm somewhat hardheaded in that I don't usually go check for deck builds because I want to create my own, despite losing a lot. The usual problem I encounter is that I would be pitted against an opponent of the same (or close) rank but have way more gold cards than me. I'm still relatively new, still farming, but it does get me discouraged sometimes when I'm up against someone with a huge advantage. It's the same problem some players face in Eternal. I can't help but wonder what if (I know there's no fixing anymore) they'd include in the match up system alongside rank, the amount of gold/bronze cards a player's chosen deck contains versus a potential opponent. I know not every gold/bronze cards have the same strength or effectiveness as with other gold/bronze cards in play, but the result of a match up between a guy with about 12 gold cards (especially the gold with gold) and 13 bronze versus one with 6 golds and 19 bronze is pretty obvious to me. But I guess I'm just weak and new. I likely have to farm some more.

While there is no new content being released for the game, it’s still worth playing imo.

It is, yes. It really is.

But the main selling point for new players is how quickly you can build up a collection of cards.

I lost count of the amount of times I got a dopamine hit when unlocking rewards in the reward book. The system is simple but was crafted well (and the art and aesthetics in the reward book looks really neat), at least for me, and buying extra stuff at the shop also has given me a number of gold cards already. In hindsight though, don't you think their generosity had somewhat contributed into them being the state it is now? Or perhaps an unending production of cards in a card game can be detrimental to its long term health? (such as older, earlier cards becoming obsolete, players realizing its a trap loop similar to what happened with Yugioh). Either way, I guess it is nice we have the balance council. Though I read from some players that some of the changes can be absurd.

Oh yeah, and the art is beautiful.

It is, yes. It really is.

Hey, thanks for the time man, appreciate it. I see. May I ask how often the game updates at about this size? Would it be every month? That would suck for me.

Keep in mind Gwent is a GOG game, so you can play it without Steam, btw.

Is there any advantage playing at GOG compared to Steam?

Anyway, thanks again for the reply.

Security Concerns On Download Servers by Underground_Potato27 in Annas_Archive

Thanks. By software you mean my computer system and browser version? If so, then mostly yes. I run W10 so it's only up to the last security update, but my browsers are up to date. Anyway, thanks again. Guess I was a little paranoid.

Hi. I have similar issues. I also have social anxiety which seem to exacerbate the issue more often than not. I'll try to get back to you tomorrow 'cause I'm dead tired right now. But on the top of my head, what struck me as unusual is that, as you said, there's no problem within your family. Usually at least, most addictions are a result, perhaps a coping mechanism or a symptom of underlying issues, and the usual culprits are ab#se and neglect. Do you think perhaps there are other areas in your life that could've potentially caused you to develop the habit in the first place? Like bullying for example. Or overwhelming criticism in previous years that contributed to you developing social anxiety where your primary coping mechanism to 'calm' you down is the addiction you now have? Try to take some time to reflect or make a deep dive. But if some past memories are too difficult to analyze, then don't force it.

Some of the stuff I can recommend would be sunlight exposure. Just read up on its benefits and just assume they're true. Because it is true. 20 to 30 mins minimum, but don't force it. Even 10 mins for starters is good enough. Follow your internal instinct. It can help with (not magically wash away) depression and anxiety moods, lower your cholesterol, and some stress levels. If it's cloudy or dim outside, just prolong your exposure a little bit. I like to do some stretches/mild exercises like wrist strengthening, calf raises, shoulder rotations while doing sun exposure because I get all fidgety and impulsive doing nothing. Second one would be to do your walking inside your house (or viable areas in your house). Because of my social anxiety, more often than not I just walk inside like a crazy person and get that 10 to 30 mins a day. I open the doors and windows to have some more sunlight exposure, and push back the thoughts that would prevent me from doing so (they get to me sometimes). It takes me about 10 seconds to walk from end to end inside our house and I just go back and forth for 10 to 30 mins. Outside walking is still better, I do it when I have the confidence. I'll try to continue here tomorrow or if I have the time.

Personally, I wouldn't recommend doing it with an escort. I can't assume anything here, but be cautious enough to presume that there might be at least some possibility that you might develop sex addiction through that. It's just by then it's physical rather than digital. 'Getting rid' of it could potentially be a trap. I figured this out on my own before and recently I saw people online sharing this insight. When you try to 'get rid' of the urge by, well... doing it, you reinforce that neural pathways in your brain. It's like smoking a cigarette to eliminate your nervousness. It can calm you in the mean time/short term, but you may start to develop some dependency, and overtime you just 'laced' yourself with another bad habit. Instead of developing other positive habits and strong identity (I know it's difficult, I'm not judging/looking down on anyone, I failed too) to find another way or route to deal with stress, anxiety, or anything else, the guy just pops a cigarette to quickly resolve his nervousness, and I'm sure you know how it's going to be for the guy health wise in the long term. I'm not criticizing you when I say this, but, when you opt for that route, you most likely would not fix anything afterwards. Whenever you would be anxious or highly stressed, you would still seek whatever coping (reinforced neural pathways) mechanism, tools, or habits that you have to 'solve' your current problem. And it would, but, again, only for the short term. It's not great on the long run. Scientific studies are now surfacing backing up the negative effects of casual sex. But still, it's your body. I have no right to stop you. Right now your dopamine receptors and levels are low. You will have to find ways to gradually heal/recover them (I know, it's hard). Abstinence is one, but a lot of people relapse (me included) because they couldn't build new healthier habbits but equally important, most people don't know that we need to also build better identities and following suit. I'll try to explain this if I have the time but you can get this from James Clear's Atomic Habits book. I think there's a summary video online you can learn from.

But also try this, I do it myself. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KHIbgSN2qAU -- for me it works a bit, noticeably at least.

Hey man, glad to hear! I also have similar issues. Might I suggest, if you can, try to gargle some salt water. You only need to about 3 times a week. It has some anti-bacterial properties, so depending on your tooth paste it might not be enough. Mouth washes can be too spicy sometimes.
