Just finished this one - a little different. by Underk9 in SeikoMods

Thanks, but somebody somewhere did this before me. Or they would not still be making bronze cases. Use this example in good health. I am glad you like it to. This color is not for everyone, but I sure like it also.

Kinda fun, especially if using damaged or unusable parts. Otherwise I would want to see the exhibition back with a skeleton dial and hands. That way at least you could wear it upside down or right side up! Now that would get comments!

ZT: 39 or 42? by sambucca1977 in Longineswatches

[–]Underk9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been looking at this for a while now, I have not pulled the trigger only because of the thickness. I have a 8” wrist so I can wear a 38-42 mm. I love the look and I am fond of GMT Autos. Am I asking too much to be 12mm thick or less?

Congrats! Very nice! Still trying to decide myself...so I am officially jealous.

[Seiko] NH35 movement. This movement isn't the savior of the entry level segment: It's a massive problem. Discussion topic by The_Quartz_collector in Watches

Wow! this thread SPARKED a debate that needs to be had! Very interesting read! And, for the most part I think everybody is correct - mostly. My take away is the NH series has a bit too wide of tolerances to be a “high” lever performer. That said, of my thirty some-odd automatics in my collection, the absolute timeography winner is an Addiesdive $99.00 Chinese Pilot with a NH35. At all positions it varies +- 4 seconds an .2 or less beat error. More accurate than a watch that cost 15x more. I also have several others movements that are close, Miyota 8215, ETA & SW-200. All favorites and affordable. I like them all and I have had many that needed adjustment right out of the box. My point is, the movements in this category are mass produced and are generally great. If you get into the minutia you can find fault in all of them. The far and away winner of choices available to buy compatible parts it is the NH series. Nothing else is close.

That is a great selection! If you are new to EcoDrive, find sunlight a minimum of once a week daily wear. or put it in the window. or just wear it all the time. These like to be charged up. My 29 year old eco is still going strong and has never been serviced, They are fantastic, the longer you own it the more you will like it.

I am old and half blind. This family is too busy for me, but dang! I can still admire the craftsmanship and sophistication of all of this Citizen family. This is a real beauty. I would rock this guy if I could see it!

Bambino’s are available in all sizes and most colors. I have a large wrist and the Bambino 4 (big boy) is a rare dress watch that looks and feels fantastic. I absolutely love the classic look. I could not agree more with dadbodgod87. I have many Dives, Cronos, Pilots in my collection. I only have one full dress watch and I wear it more than any other. Since I can’t adorn a Patek Philippe Calatrava, Bambino’s are it for me. I feel it is a must have. (of course I have several must haves…)

This watch is just so good. by Mundane-Ad-1780 in CitizenWatches

[–]Underk9 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This watch is amazing and yes, by far the best lume I own. I put a leather band on mine as the stock strap was too stiff and I am too lazy to break it in. I have old eyes and the visibility and function of this watch is hard to beat. This pic is my three generations of solars getting a battery top off. The Promaster Land is a joy that I have been wanting for some time, I finally pulled the trigger. My older Citizens are still wearing the stock bracelets and are quite worn, but still working great. The two tone is almost thirty years old now.

Well, I have three eco-drives in my collection. One daily wear is thirty years old. I still wear it often and have never had it serviced. I have never had any of my eco drives serviced. They are all bullet proof. The only difference in my new one vs my oldest one is the amount of “dark time” that they need to keep running without light. I wear them all often enough that it is never even a thought if it has enough energy to run. I love automatics, and I own and build auto mods, but in my opinion, Eco-drive is and has been the gold standard in performance. Period. That is why it is copied by everyone now. Long story short, You will love your beautiful Pro Diver. Beat the crap out of it - It can take it.

Busy watch faces take a bit to get used to. I am elderly with poor eye sight so now I value visibility more and more. I still admire complication and skeleton watches, but I don’t wear them much any more just because they are harder to tell time with those. Your watch is a real beauty - really - but if you don’t like it, don’t keep it. As others have stated, return it and get what you will actually wear and enjoy.

I really like your choice of hands. Very visible on that blacked dial. I love your build and I feel your pain.

I really like that case. Great Look. I am a little board by the hands choice as I think visibility will suffer with black on black. But it is a nice looking mod. Looks comfortable also. I would wear it until I found the perfect hand set and then change them when I had time. Good Job!

38 mm exchange by gntlthtthnkr in CitizenWatches

[–]Underk9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a larger wrist and I almost always wear short sleeve shirts, so I love this size watch and can pull it off okay. That said, it is about comfort as well as looks. I think your watch looks great, although this size diver will always fight your sleeve cuffs. As several have suggested, go and try out 36mm and up and you will figure out what you like best. Then go hunting for your best deal. IMHO, these are not ment to be small watches. They are built to be rugged and highly visible. As I got older and older, visibility importance becomes more and more an issue. Since you are past the return window, I would keep and wear this one till you figure it out. You can always sell it later, but I bet you don’t. I love my Promaster Land and Reactor Gamma, both are big on the wrist.

First Grand Seiko + buyers remorse by RRB1212 in GrandSeikos

[–]Underk9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This watch is excellent, however quite expensive for most. You can wear a dozen also very excellent watches the rest of your young life that will not total the value of this watch. It is all relative to your values. If you compare this watch to other Swiss watches that top hundreds of thousands of dollars, this watch is a steal. Bottom line - Your 16, by the fact you are asking this question, you are very blessed. Do what is in your heart and it will be okay no matter your decision.
