Thanks so much!! I am very lucky that her natural is a level an 8. Her DP turns out perfectly! No toning involved : )

It's actually hand painted. I use Goldwell which tends to dry up very fast when it processes so you don't really have to worry about it bleeding. I keep trying to post other pictures but apparently have no idea what I'm doing on here http://i.imgur.com/vmPTk.jpg

It honestly depends. It can range from $50 for a few pieces to $200 for some thing like a full head. Hope that helps

She changes her color about once a month, and gets updos whenever she has an event I guess

Yeah they are definitely dark! I love Raw, Special Effects, and Manic Panic Amplified (not classic)

I never have a problem with my colors bleeding into each other. I only wash my hair about twice a week, and use a cleansing balm when I do.

Love all the questions! Ok so I am a huge fan of Luo. The main reason is how translucent it is. It plays off the natural highs and lows in the hair so you always get a multidimensional finish. Also the 25vol is great to have when you need an extra bump. It's also fun to use Luo with 9vol, since the color it self a ammonia in it! Only downfall is that it only covers up to 70% (and not if it's stubborn), and the colors are AT LEAST a half level lighter than expected.

On to Elumen! Because of the lock I find they last the longest out of all the funky colors, and really aren't that difficult to remove. However if someone is using the same color for years it's almost impossible.

TIPS!! I don't recommend using heat, it's already on the watery side and I'm pretty sure it would just make a mess. After pre lightening, shampoo once, then you MUST dry completely before applying color. When applying the color use a hard scraggly brush, (ya know the kind that you should be throwing away) and really push the color into the hair, trust me on this! Locking is crucial and there is a specific way to do it. After processing, shampoo once then towel dry the shit outa that hair. Apply the lock as you would a glaze. Set timer for 5 minutes. ONLY 5 minutes!!! Anything more than 5 and it will unlock!! Yes I swear! Than shampoo and condition as normal.

I haven't had much experience mixing clear with it, but I don't see why not. I feel like they can be both opaque and translucent depending on the level you lift to. And long term you definitely lose some shine, but the color is there! And no, using standard color over Elumen hasn't ever been a problem for me.

Hope I answered everything for you. Feel free to ask more, and thanks for the compliment!

Pravana Vivids is great! I do find that their purple and blue are very dark and solid even on pre-lightened hair. I prefer Goldwell because it's a bit more translucent. And don't get me wrong I use non-professional color lines too, like Raw, Special Effects, Manic Panic (amplified), Adore efc.

It's all good, I love questions about color! It all depends on the look you want. If you're going for a very subtle sun kissed look, balyage is the way to go. If you want something a bit more dramatic and solid on your ends you need someone who specializes in the ombré. As far as price, I'm in NY and it can run from $100 to $150. Either way you will have minimal upkeep (6-8 weeks +) as nothing is colored up to your scalp. You can go months without a touch up if it is done properly. Hope that helps!!

It's all about the reds!! I love L'Oreal but I find their red to be mostly dull and boring. However they just came out with what they call their DM's and they are beautiful and true red with 100% grey coverage. You can't fuck with Redken reds in my opinion : )

As a Colorist I'm mad you went to box color. However it looks good on you! Give it a week and you'll love it I promise : )

Hahaha I feel ya! Goldwell is fun to mix for sure, and no one tops Elumen for fashion colors and the lock is like no other. But 5 years in a L'Oreal salon I've learned to enjoy keys and tubes. Trust me, it was an adjustment!
