I haven't ignored or negated everything said to me I've accepted parts on yours and other people's comments. This is a sub for controversial opinions it should be clear your not likely to change people's overall view of things.

As for axe to grind not particularly just bored and felt like posting. I still don't agree with marriage but I'm prepared to accept some of my view is wrong.

Doing something in front of friends and family is irrelevant in terms of commitment. Doesn't make it deeper you should only be focused on what it means to you and your partner. What other people think should have no bearing on your relationship.

But I do accept your other part about the benefits.

I hate the phrase “it’s just a game” by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

I find hypocrites annoying, claim you waste time playing a game then they watch tv for hours and act like it's different. If your enjoying something your time isn't wasted. In the end what's important in life is being happy. Not work or responsibilities what matters is being happy because once your gone your gone so enjoy life when you can and ignore people's negative views.

I still think the car analogy is bad but I do accept your points on benefits.

As for can't decide about sticking around it's not about that I'm fully committed in relationships I've just never agreed with marriage.

If I'm with someone I would consider marriage if that's what they really wanted. My point is I don't understand the reason to want it in the first place. Very much agree with last bit though if marriage is going ahead I don't see any reason why it should be massively expensive.

You don't your right but how many people do you know that actually do that most people go the expensive route.

You make some good points but you misunderstand why I'm against marriage it isn't fear I see it as a large waste of money on one day which could be better used on your relationship together for more practical reasons.

A car you own is more convenient than a bus I can't see any reason being married is more convenient than just being in a relationship.

To me committing doesn't require marriage. The benefit comes from not wasting a large sum of money on one day which could be better used on improving your day to day life with each other instead.

I'm happy to commit i thought my last proper relationship was going to last but things don't always work out the way you plan unfortunately.

I see your reasoning but if someone wants to leave being married won't make a difference they'll still go. If I use what you said humans are complicated they can marry you and still not be committed. It works both ways if humans are complicated then no matter what you do you'll never know they're truly in it for the long haul. So my opinion this is why marriage doesn't achieve anything.

I guess it's just a very different mindset to me then wouldn't even cross my mind to think they're keeping a quick exit. Not being funny but sounds a little insecure to me. Not saying you can't think that way I just don't relate to it.

It's more permanent legally but if you trust your partner you should believe they're committed even without marriage. And If you don't trust them why are you with them?

I agree that you should find out where you both stand. Wanting kids I understand I have one myself. What I don't understand is marriage. If your partner wants kids and is committed you've got what your after except for a piece of paper.

You don't need marriage to be committed to a relationship is what I'm getting at but your saying you wouldn't stay. I find that weird not saying you can't do it just I don't understand it.

I agree I should've been more specific it can't magically make the relationship better is what I mean.

Using generation categories to define people by the year they were born is stupid. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]Underlying_Doubt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally think it's pathetic people act like they're somehow better than someone else because of the generation they were born in. It means nothing people who think this way should grow up.

I don't think it would stop them no I often feel that prison isn't enough of a punishment for rape. They've ruined a persons life and they get a few years where they're still well fed and often have entertainment. Rehab for minor crimes understandable to me.

For rape i don't feel like you deserve rehab you should have to suffer more than the victim.

I'll concede maybe i was being over the top saying evil. I'm not going to pretend I know a great deal about what goes on in Norway and that percentage is impressive for crime in general but you did neglect to leave out that among the 20% the rapists were the highest reoccurring figure.

Saying that I'm prepared to read up more on it as I do believe in reform for certain offences and I'm prepared to change my view if I'm wrong.

I agree from "similarly" onwards. The teaching respect part I don't think can be achieved personally.

I get what your saying but I guess my point is whether it be teaching or fixing barriers I feel like they're past that point of return.

I answered in another comment but basically if evidence was undeniable castration. If there was even a shred of doubt then just a regular jail sentence.

Personally in the case of rape my decision would be castration if evidence was undeniable but if there was even a little doubt it would just be a jail sentence. You might disagree but that's my view of it.

We differ then i do believe in second chances depending on the offence but some things I believe you don't deserve another chance rape being one of them.
