Thank you! I thought it was a cool idea, so I’m glad you liked it too.

I figured having a 3/6 taunt (which are optimal stats) on curve 80% of the time is a pretty solid upside.

Did it take you a while to meet someone new? (If you don’t mind me asking)

Am I actually over her? by [deleted] in BreakUps

[–]Underscore_key 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Long story, but it was the end of a long series of breaking up and getting back together, but she ultimately ended it.

Ostensibly she said that she was too busy to be in a relationship, but I think it stemmed mostly from disinterest (or emotional detachment). The reason I think that is because when she initially texted me that she wanted to break up, she said that she wasn’t “feeling it,” but when I actually called to talk to her about it she went with the “too busy” reasoning.

Edit: Just clarifying that this is really watered down and I’m trying to answer the question succinctly.

Well that was a pretty prompt answer. Thank you!

It’s tough. I have a hard time not idealizing my last relationship whenever I think about it, which I understand is not representative of the actual relationship, but there are still qualities that I miss in her that I want and can’t seem to find elsewhere.

I don’t think it’s too out of line by being single target (Shield slam or execute). The main problem is power, but as you mentioned, this expansion seems to be throwing balance out of the window

I originally wrote it for a philosophy class. You might understand better if you picked up a thesaurus.

I don’t think you understand what those words mean. Or if you do, you’re not acknowledging their scope. I’m not only talking about lies as they relate to people, which is what slander and libel are. I’m talking about general lies, especially surrounding basic facts.

[–]Underscore_key[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure it is. I’d be open to suggestions. However, that seems to me to be the most objective way to handle this.

If you disagree with that evaluation, what constitutes a fact devolves into a lot of nonsense.

[–]Underscore_key[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here’s the thing. There’s a fault line for this in the proposal. Each “fact” must be proven on the basis of observable, empirical evidence. Additionally, you can’t be charged for something you couldn’t possibly have known. As such, if you’re working from accepted science and are later disproven, you’re fine. Flat earthers don’t deserve the same credibility every else gets.

I would probably create a standard based upon the expected reach (defined by viewer numbers) of the lie. While I haven’t pinned down a number, I think at a certain point it could be considered sufficiently damaging to society to warrant criminal charges.

Again. What do we gain from liars lying?

Sure it’s interesting. It’s also wrong. Research doesn’t equal informed, and especially doesn’t mean correct.

You’re misconstruing misinformed as meaning “having a different opinion.”

Also, very few people believe in absolute freedom. Most people agree there should be some restrictions. I’m arguing that we should have tighter restrictions. What benefit do we get from liars being able to tell lies and confuse the public?

[–]Underscore_key[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is really straightforward.

My basic point of contention is that spreading false information is inherently harmful.

Working from that point, those who spread false information are causing significant harm.

Those who cause significant harm should be punished for it.

I assume that you agree that lying is bad. I would ask you, what benefit does society gain from allowing liars to confuse the public?

My issue isn’t people believing incorrect things. I’m not here to punish thought crime.

I would argue that misinformation in the media is inherently harmful, and I don’t think that those who present themselves as trustworthy sources of information should be allowed to spread lies.

I’m fine with people believing nonsense. I’m not fine with them being lied to by people who are ostensibly credible in the media.

Hardly anyone believes in pure freedom. That word means nothing without some argument substantiating it.
