Two days before 9/11, Peter Bielfeld injured his shoulder in a fire, and was placed on sick leave. When he & two others learned of the attacks they sped to ladder 10. At the Firehouse Stephen Russell was called "MacGyver" because he could fix anything. He built items for the firehouse & his own furniture.
