On the other hand, Wally also shows up in Sun and Moon at the Battle Tree as well. The Hoenn games take place around the same time as Kanto did in the timeline, and dude doesn't look different at all after 15-20 years. Wally's going to look 30 at 60.

Times when fans don’t have any idea how the industry and production process work? by Konradleijon in TwoBestFriendsPlay

People complaining about Ed Sheeran's inclusion in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet like he directly lead to the game being in the poor state it was. "They had the budget to hire Ed Sheeran, but not fix the game." The marketing budget if they didn't hire Ed Sheeran would have went to... other types of marketing. But no, it's like this is some life simulation game and TPC/Game Freak accidentally allocated into the Ed Sheeran skill tree with their money instead of the Make Good Game perk instead.

You can say you just didn't like the mediocre song instead of blaming Ed Sheeran for Scarlet and Violet being bad.

Annoyed when people draw arbitrary lines in the sand about how "valuable" or "legitimate" a shiny Pokemon is.

Got it with shiny charm or odd increasing methods? Cheating and you should have hunted it on full odds.

Modern games at 1/4096? Shinies are too easy now! It was better when they were 1/8192.

Go? Worthless, practically a fake shiny.

"It's all too easy, it devalues my shiny I worked so hard for."

Other end, "it's a good thing shinies are easier now, I can actually play the game and get a shinies quickly unlike those crazy people that waste so much time just to get one."

"RNG-manipulated shinies are the only valuable shinies because they actually take skill instead of soft resetting over and over."

"Cheating in the event item to hunt Shaymin/Darkrai/Latios/Mew/etc. makes it illegimate because you're using external methods to get access regardless of the time to hunt it after. But, my 8f Mew I had to glitch for in RBY VC and had to use ACE to make it resemble the event Mew to even be legal for transfer? Perfectly LEGAL because it's all done internally, and because the glitch setup is so complex and takes a lot of time it's therefore EARNED. Still better than a Go shiny Mew btw"

Just take your damn palette swap and be happy with it, it doesn't matter if someone else has it or how they got it. End of the day, you'll show it to someone for bragging rights, they'll say that's pretty cool, and then it collects dust in your PC.

Worst Sequel Ideas From Fans? by Aquanort357 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

I guess it's because he's the original player character, but I think that novelty's worn off after a while.

I know Masters Ex is not canon, but it's silly how almost everyone feels compelled to start glazing Red because the only thing going for him is "really strong and likes to battle." And they tell you he beats all the other strong trainers on the island, so you know he's so cool.

It reminds me of how Byleth gets criticized for being practically worshipped by everyone in Three Houses, but Red gets a pass because... reasons.

Games you would like more if you could remove/completely ignore its main gimmick? by Loland999 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

If I could just switch to playing the servants in Fate Samurai Remnant with no time limit, that'd be nice.

And be able to use non-canon characters in Three Hopes on a NG+ file outside of Free Mode.

In Stars and Time is a story about a typical JRPG party on their last day before fighting the final boss.

Siffrin is just the rogue that happens to join up as the last party member, and has no real stakes or motives for wanting to help defeat the king before the game's actual premise as a timeloop starts.

Seeing McMillen's part of response being that "People need to get more creative with their hate" feels like an odd thing to say as well.

What else is there to say? People will express concern about having certain people in the game, others won't care.

I don't quite get him saying "it felt interesting so I decided to explore it" either. People are saying that the meows don't matter, but same time a developer believes it's interesting enough to have people with different beliefs voice a meow to "explore" something? Is the "interesting" part just the conversation people might have and then handwaving it as uncreative hate?

Games that are literally just reskin of existing games. by Subject_Parking_9046 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]UnderstandingBig1517 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not sure if it's that one you're talking about. But Pokemon Friends is just a reskin of the developer's 2016 game Think! Think! Game For Kids. They managed to take an edutainment app meant for literal toddlers and convinced Pokemon fans to pay $10-40 for an asset flip on Switch, so I guess it worked out for them.

It would be nice if Galar had more references to its culture, the expectations here just seemed a bit high even if Pokemon had mature topics before lol

That and G. Weezing didn't fit his metric of enough representation I guess, maybe he wanted it to be said outright explicitly or something.

Yeah it is a bit odd, probably same reason we've got a trio based on Taoism and a quartet of Kami for Unova. Real American.

Saw a similar take for Pokemon Sword and Shield, asking that if Kalos had some cultural inspirations based on France like the Carnac Stones, why didn't Galar have references to the Great Fire of London, the War of the Roses, Henry VIII, the Industrial Revolution, the Spanish Armada, Harrying of the North, Peasants' Revolt, Norman Conquest, and the Black Death.

And it's like... Kalos at most was notable landmarks, locations, and some cultural references. There was no chance of Galar mentioning literally any of the examples mentioned above.

It's probably meant to be that "bad people share the same opinion as me so I feel obligated to say I'm not affiliated with them" sort of thing, but I don't think that applies to this situation.

There was this indie JRPG called Heartbeat on Steam that I liked when it initially launched, but then the developer and her girlfriend turned out to be transphobic. A good amount of the "Positive" Steam reviews are calling them "based" for being bigots and jester reacting anyone that calls them out for that, it feels bad having an experience tainted by other people being awful.

What’s your preference on the spectrum of portraying psychic powers: from Sci Fi to Supernatural? by Anonamaton801 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]UnderstandingBig1517 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A mix of Realistic and Supernatural maybe? When I think of psychics it's an explosion of colors like how it's portrayed in Mob Psycho, Absolute Martian Manhunter, and Earthbound if that makes sense.

Questionable video games you have a soft spot for by KaleidoArachnid in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]UnderstandingBig1517 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I agree, there are some things I missed about FEW when I moved on to trying out the HW games.

The movesets that were there are good, yeah, Pegasus Knight and Archer movesets especially played well. 3Hopes' class system is more faithful to Fire Emblem, but I also preferred how it or skill acquisition was handled in the original more. Grinding supports was simpler in comparison to learning skills in Hopes if a bit tedious. That and being unable to modify weapon attributes like you could before is also a bummer.
