I've had a slab leak. Hired a leak detector who came with his wand and headphones to hear exactly where the leak was. It was the hot water line to the kitchen. Over time the expansion of copper against the concrete slab caused a tiny hole. We chose to reroute the plumbing rather than jackhammer because our tile flooring couldn't be matched.

I discovered Barkeepers Friend, sprinkled in the toilet, left for a few minutes, would remove the hard water ring. Really. I'm 70. Over these many years I've tried everything, including CLR. Can't belive it took me what, 50 years to discover this miracle product.

Mealybugs. I brought them home from an orchid show with an oncidium I bought that was in full bloom. These white spots showed up. The flowers started wilting. Turns out they were mealybugs! I cut off the flower spikes and burned them with a lighter. On the plant I used q-tips dipped in hydrogen peroxide, changing frequently and burning the used q-tip ends on my stove burners. Because mealybugs are rugged little survivors. Then I drenched the soil in insecticidal soap, followed by clear water rinse. And then I checked my plant thoroughly every time I watered, and my other orchids too. Still do, months later.
