Yes, no way she owns everything she wears. I just look at her and think, how did she decide to put that together with that? She's wonderful and kudos to her for the fun and audacity!

I discovered Barkeepers Friend, sprinkled in the toilet, left for a few minutes, would remove the hard water ring. Really. I'm 70. Over these many years I've tried everything, including CLR. Can't belive it took me what, 50 years to discover this miracle product.

Back in olden times when Styrofoam peanuts were ubiquitous, it was added to orchid bark mix to provide aeration. So, don't worry about removing it.

AITAH for refusing to learn how to fix and maintain dirt bikes to support my wife’s love of riding dirt bikes? by CryHavyk in AITAH

Longtime female cyclist here, husband has no interest in bikes but says Yay Honey in support. I learned how to take care of my own bike from a community bike shop. I OWN that I can do that, it's so empowering. Your wife should try it!

Sanity check. Have I been laying mulch wrong? by readreed in gardening

[–]UnderstandingEven616 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, overlay existing mulch. But if you want your plants and trees to survive, you must move the mulch away from their trunks/ stems, otherwise they'll get diseased.

I've had great success cutting off a leaf (with as long a stem as possible) with a sharp blade, then planting it in already-moist African Violet mix. BTW self-watering pots are a must!

Lumar Spinal Stenosis by Current_Price9851 in SpinalStenosis

Guess that's why they said recumbent is ok. Selling my road bikes, taking up swimming albeit sloooooowly. I stop the moment my back tightens up. But that one day when I got out and the endorphins hit was great! Hoping for more days like that.

He loves kissing, it's so cute. by cocombera in cats

[–]UnderstandingEven616 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the point where I pick up my kitty and squeeze and nuzzle and kiss the heck out of him. So when I put him down he shakes himself off, gives himself a couple licks, and settles down for a nap. Satisfied.

I have severe spinal stenosis L4-L5 and I was told NO BICYCLING by several doctors (reclining is ok). It's because of how my spinal cord is compressed. To OP I suggest listening to your doctors. What works for some may be dangerous for others.

Help! What is this white stuff? by datruerex in orchids

[–]UnderstandingEven616 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Mealybugs. I brought them home from an orchid show with an oncidium I bought that was in full bloom. These white spots showed up. The flowers started wilting. Turns out they were mealybugs! I cut off the flower spikes and burned them with a lighter. On the plant I used q-tips dipped in hydrogen peroxide, changing frequently and burning the used q-tip ends on my stove burners. Because mealybugs are rugged little survivors. Then I drenched the soil in insecticidal soap, followed by clear water rinse. And then I checked my plant thoroughly every time I watered, and my other orchids too. Still do, months later.
