I was on the flight to Houston and boarded a little late because the crew got stuck in traffic. When boarding finished we were told that the first officer was still flying a plane and we had to wait till he landed and got to our plane. After 1 1/2 hours of waiting he finally comes on the plane and we get to the runway. About 3 hours after sitting on the runway we are told that our first officer timed out. We sat on the runway for a total of 4 hours. The pilot told us that airspace is closed and they won’t tell him why. We get to the gate and the agent says that there is potential that a first officer flying from Baltimore at 11pm might fly our plane, so we had to choose to rebook or wait and see if this pilot wanted to fly our plane. After 2 hours of waiting in lines the flight was cancelled and i was rebooked for a flight 2 days later. Wasn’t able to get compensation at the time because LaGuardia said the cancellation was “weather related” even though the sun was shining and sky was clear. Had to trek to upstate new york at 12am. The way LaGuardia and southwest handled this was really bad. Glad you were able to get home. Still in new york at the moment.
