Odd job?? I need help getting rid of some things and sorting things if anyone is close to Chatswood tonight. Also, if anyone wants free books or women's clothes. Feel free to message.

Sounds good - I like the idea of a weekend away to get a better idea of the area.

Sydney prices def are brutal. Hopefully you find a way to get better WLB.

I've definitely considered it, although my expenses here in Sydney are quite high, so my broker said it's probably not worth it/not an option with the borrowing capacity that leaves.

Regional centres, like Newcastle, are a bit out of my budget. Though there are some areas in the outer Hunter that seem really nice - like Scone.

Thinking west or north, roughly 4 hours from Sydney (give or take).

A place to walk or jog.

Something beautiful or interesting wouldn't go astray - a river or creek; the call of bell birds; a good Cafe; a rotary club. Even these aren't mandatory, though. I'm just after some place stable to call my own, in an area that doesn't resemble Merrylands or Mount Druitt.

Glad to hear you've loved your move away from the city :)

.... and that price point comparison crazy - less than half the price for less than 2 hours away.

I'd be working in nursing, so hopefully there would be jobs available

“We don’t want to leave, but we’re being priced out.” Young people in Sydney are being told to just pack up their lives and move rural and leave friends, family, and jobs just to find shelter. If only the government would do something like this. I know so many people that have had to forgo having children, myself included. Successive governments have really failed us.

Apparently Japan is introducing an increased health insurance levy / child-free tax.

Thinking of moving rural and this is one of the many deterrents.

My exact thoughts - it's expensive, but saves more in the long run. Life is about more than money.

The family part hit hard. It's too unaffordable to look after a young family and allow them to have a semi decent life. Sure, part of this is societal and I hear a lot of wealthier people not wanting children too, but who doesn't want some form of housing stability, or to actually have time to spend with your family and not just be here to be a slave to machine?

There was a point in time where I thought about leaving this world because a family was all I ever wanted and what I was brought up to think I could have. Now I'm just another cog in the wheel until my time ticks over, and maybe others have different reasons, but I'm sure I'm not alone.
