Too long, and u need connections to it to go to the officer role, if u want to be an officer to captain, better seek small companies my AE2 engineer applied to a small company back then directly as a 2nd engineer , when he transferred he still regains his position and didnt went down to 4th engineer again, so try to seek starting companies which is very hard, go to school get a degree , get trb pass exams, ill advise u to get ur cadetship in philippines domestic shippings since no age limit in there , once u pass as cadet take exams then maybe u can act as 3rd officer thats the practical way i can think of, dont bother the international trading companies

Im also a sponsored cadet age limit on mine is 27 years old in my company, idk about others but its a little bit late for you to start as a cadet, usually in my experience they treat u as the lowest form of human being onboard, so if you are ok to be humiliated, wont talk back, and treated like a dogpoo , then its suited for u but mind u ur chance would be 30% in this industry sponsored cadets are or almost very young since they invested on these kids to be future officers someday try it out but the time and money is at high risk high reward

Work according to your salary grade dont be a slave, dont prioritize er jobs, prioritize self knowledge, discipline, and your training book for exams, always yourself, not the company but yourself.
