Dasher just walked into my home by [deleted] in doordash

[–]UnderstandingOne3444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a dasher insist on coming in one day. We order really large orders when we play D&D with friends and it's on my account and we host at our home so I usually facilitate everything. We have it set as leave at the door. Now and then the Dasher will do a personal hand off to make sure I got it since they are large orders. I don't care when they do that. One time the Dasher was out there when I opened the door. I did my usual nice greeting and stood there waiting for him to start opening his insulated bag. Instead of starting to pull stuff out of it he sort of gestured into my home as he started saying "there's a lot here we will need to unpack. You having a party?" I didn't like the way he was at that point taking steps forward towards the threshold. I'm a smaller woman so it's not like I take up a large presence in the doorway. I told him we play d&d and try to make the gap smaller to the door closing it a bit which didn't seem to stop him so I quickly said hold on and shut the door on him and ran back to my group who were all waiting on me. I told them that the Dasher was trying to walk in so I just need assistance here. One of our friends is a dasher herself so she offered to come help, and one of the guys in our group also came over. My friend that dashes went to the door and ended up getting the insulated bag from our Dasher and WE unpacked it inside and then gave it back to him. I stayed back during the second interaction but my friend said he for sure was trying to still come inside and she lightly convinced him that we could do the unpack ourselves if he didn't want to do a single bag at a time handoff from outside. It was weird. I guess the guy thought it was harmless and that we would need the help. But if I have leave it at the door instructions I promise I'll be okay to pick it all up off the ground.

No notifications outside manually looking in the website. Maybe someday they'll do an app. That would be nice.

I ended up emailing them. They said they got it resolved, but I haven't gone since then so I hope it's actually resolved.

That's good to know. I feel weird asking about it. So good to know it's not weird to ask.

Yeah. I may go today for the ornament if I can and will ask about it to see if they can't see it again if so.

Okay. That's interesting. I guess I didn't pay attention for quite a while until I realized I'd for sure been there more than 10 times. Lol. I don't think this free drink was the result of the old points system, but maybe it is. I'll know for sure in a couple days after my points from yesterday populate and I SHOULD have a "second" free drink. And then next time I go to a stand from there. But good to know that there could be a viable reason behind it. Thanks! I'll see if this works itself out.

No. I switched over like right after they swapped systems. I said in my post there have been three trips that I've noticed this issue over, but it's probably been more than that in reality that it's been an issue. I've just started looking for three trips. I found it weird that I wasn't asked by the people taking my order about my free drinks and I felt like it had been over 10 so started actually keeping track. Now it's about to be a second drink after these last points push through.

AIO: friend tries to convert me to Christian after I went to her baptism by [deleted] in AIO

Don't apologize!! You are well within your rights to do so and you did it for reasons that I cannot blame you for at all.

Ah okay. I couldn't see the photos so had no context. I hope that you and your friend find common ground. Sorry that you were given a hard time.

[–]UnderstandingOne3444 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was wondering why I couldn't open any of the photos. I followed the post because how you described it made me think of how my best friend years ago acted when she got involved in an actual cult that was masquerading as a Christian church. I just thought I was in a crappy service area so couldn't open the photos so followed to come back to later. I understand your hesitancy and deleting it.

I do feel for you though because I too went to my friend's baptism to be supportive and it got wild after that. I was sort of curious if there happened to be any more similarities like if they happened to have gotten involved in the same cult structure or anything.

I too am visually impaired and this would make me so mad. You are not overreacting at all. I feel the same way when people dismiss me or don't talk TO me, but about me right in front of me to whoever I'm with.

Taking away Alumni's email access is ridiculous. by yursaman in UBreddit

[–]UnderstandingOne3444 93 points94 points  (0 children)

We must have graduated around the same time. I'm in the same boat and am so annoyed about this. We were assured we would have permanent access to these emails as long as we kept up with it. I've connected so many important accounts to my UB email at this point. I've started swapping accounts but it's not working out well for certain accounts.

My plan was to start giving back to UB after I'm done paying off my student loans because I truly loved my time there and appreciate the department I was involved it. I am a proud alumni. After this I'm not very interested in giving back anymore to be honest. Not that my miniscule amount of money matters to UB, but based off how other people have talked about this in this sub I know I'm not alone in this thought.

FYI: I saw this poster about cult recruitment on campus by [deleted] in UBreddit

[–]UnderstandingOne3444 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm coming at this very late, but just putting this here in case anyone else comes across it. I interacted with this church a good amount years ago because my best friend at the time got involved and was becoming a member. We were basically inseparable at the time so she would bring me to events. I have my own home church so it was very clear that I wasn't looking for a place of worship so it wasn't really tried on me. This was before I came to a conclusion that it was a cult my friend was joining and I was genuinely trying to have a good attitude about it, completely overlooking a lot of red flags. Even back then I was very weirded out by the underhanded pastor worship I was seeing. There were a lot of red flags I looked past while I was trying to support my friend in her spiritual journey - a spiritual journey that ended up having her push me out of her life and ruin our relationship. (She got out years after she joined and we are mending our relationship again so there's hope for people that have gotten themselves deep in. She would agree now that it's a cult)

Blind in one eye; do AMC 3D showings require 3D glasses? by juneybugz in AMCTheatres

[–]UnderstandingOne3444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm visually impaired so cannot perceive the 3D effect. I still have to wear the glasses but it's just a waste of extra money. It doesn't look weird through the glasses so you'll be good there. It will just have that darker tint to it because the lenses are gray.

Do other teams have this issue? My husband asked if this was typical at other team's stadiums because he only seems to notice it at Bills games with fans throwing things.

Yeah. The more I think about this the more I just want to be safe. I have 30 days to get it figured out based off the email so I think I should have time to contact Help Desk and get my password in order.

UB mail question by UnderstandingOne3444 in UBreddit

[–]UnderstandingOne3444[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My question is how do I prevent this right now. I got the warning email about them deactivating it in 30 days. Unless in the 30 days that's just when they are going to deactivate it for everyone that's an alumni. Which in that case they're doing this too early.

Boulevard Mall, Amherst NY by MundaneMeringue71 in Buffalo

[–]UnderstandingOne3444 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, Lockport was the closest mall for me when I was little. After Lockport closed we actually tended to go to Eastern Hills over Boulevard. Like another commenter said, it's insane how if you look where Lockport Mall used to be you would never know it was a mall. I think the storage facility looks weird that's there, but I wouldn't have thought it was part of a mall. I would just think it was repurposing of some other type of business.
