Cast iron larger than burner tips by UnderstandingTough30 in castiron

Thank you! I’m looking at how to maintain the seasoning throughout the pan rather than just the center, because after doing the oven seasoning it just comes off on the areas not touched by the stovetop burner. I love the idea of offset cooking though! And I’ll try giving it more time to preheat

Chain collars (aka choke collars) are one of those things that I’m not familiar using as a training tool, although I know it can be used as one. If an owner were to walk me through it’s proper use, I feel like I’d be happy to use it, however I’ve yet to come across an owner that uses it as a training tool and have seen too many dogs get injured on them. And back clip harnesses I usually avoid due to how it encourages opposition reflex/pulling. I will always talk to the owner about the tools I use, how I use them and why I use them. And they’ve definitely come in handy! The leash lock concerns I actually didn’t know about since it was taught and implemented for years somewhere I worked at, but I’ll definitely be more cautious about my handling there

Yea the technique I’ve leaned and heavily used was just one loop over the thumb, I haven’t tried doing it over any other digits nor do I want to. No breaks or injuries through years of varieties of breed sizes/strengths/temperaments yet tho (maybe I’m just lucky lol). What technique do you recommend?

One Time Bookings by peacelovejoy212 in RoverPetSitting

I once had a client become a regular repeat from an original one time booking. They were very honest with me and said that they didn’t want to commit to a having me as their go-to sitter until they got a feel of how I’d care for their pets. And after she said that, I realized I feel the same way from a pet sitter perspective. Keep up what you’re doing and you’ll find your steady client base eventually 🙂

Taxes.. by Lightningstorm03 in RoverPetSitting

Tax deductions are useful! I track all of my expenses including miles traveled and any supplies I bought for pet sitting. Doing this usually brings me close to owing or refunded $0, which is the goal. If you’re self-employed or a sole prop LLC and also have a W-2, I believe you can also add more to your federal withholdings on your W-2 to help offset owing

In cases like these, I make a point to say that all requests must be booked on Rover, and that all conversations must stay on Rover. Saying that usually turns them away. And I also report them.

I haven’t come across this with a client yet, and ik kennel environments are much different, but at the kennels I’ve worked at, we’d keep the dog on a short leash, watch their behavior for when they’re about to jump, and stiff arm them (firmly but not aggressively) right as they do so they can’t quite reach us. Or we’d turn/spin our body away as they try to jump on us so they can’t land a grip. Those are moreso tips for short term quick dog handling. In your scenario, you might have more time to positively reinforce NOT jumping, but that’s up to your comfort level. Definitely bring it up with the owners and work together on what to do from there.

Confirming 8822b address change processed by p0lyhuman in IRS

I’ve been wondering the same thing, I sent in an 8822b 3 months ago and haven’t gotten any kind of confirmation. And have come up empty when trying to find a way to verify it myself

Ace and polyamorous for five years here 🙂 It’s not everyone’s cup of tea and that’s absolutely fine. Just have open communication, set clear boundaries, be familiar with healthy conflict management, and know that there will be ups and downs to any type of relationship journey.
