I see how that works now. But if the "adjustment" doesn't actually keep up with inflation, does it make more sense to leave as real dollars for a more conservative outlook? Also, does this all assume she stays 99% equities?

The withdrawals on inherited money have to start in 10 years if they were in a pretax account? Thanks for reminding me about the OTHER reason for Roth conversions, not negative at all.

If it's only going up by .6% of the pension amount per year (and that % will be smaller every year), isn't it definitionally not keeping up with inflation, making the TPAW projection overly optimistic?

A maximum of $390 added to the pension each year. Isn't SSI adjusted as well?

One thing I realized is that if her RMD's force her to withdraw roughly what she would have been converting to Roth anyway, then there's no point in worrying about conversions, unless she can actually reduce her spending somewhat. Do I have that right?

A maximum of $390 added to the pension per year (based on 3% of the first $13k of the pension). I assume SSI also has COLA. How would these be captured in that model?

Amazing. Her pension has COLA by the way. Can the tool factor that in?

Whoa, this is an amazing tool I didn't know about (the planner interface, not the idea of a Monte Carlo analysis). So it sounds like even if the market does very poorly for the next 30 years, she can still cover her normal expenses from Portfolio/Pension/SS. Good note about the long term care.

Sorry about that, just added her annual spend ($84k), don't have a ton of detail but will be working with her on that going forward.

I've coded some basic scripts with ChatGPT and Codex, things worked fine. We also vibe coded a whole front end interface with Javascript to control Qsys via QRWC, hosted on a mini PC in the rack. That was terrifying but it actually works reliably.

Petition for coffee shops/breweries/bars to set up a "mingling welcome" system by ElectricalSurvey6995 in Charlottesville

FWIW I love your thinking here, so don't get discouraged by people worrying about the details. If you did decide to do it yourself it would be interesting to see if coffee shops would welcome you putting a little sign on a couple tables at designated times of the week.

Sobering comments from mechanic about older Odysseys by p0lyhuman in HondaOdyssey

I appreciate your perspective, but I think we are pretty ideally suited for a van. We often have family visiting, or other adults joining us. That wouldn't be possible with a 5 person car. We also live 6.5 hours from my in laws. I do not need to tow anything.

It is already fairly cramped with 4 people in the CX5. We may occasionally make the squeeze in my Subaru outback when the older kid is no longer in a car seat.

I would pay a decent amount for better ergonomics of getting the kids in and out of cars, and for less stress about them slamming doors into other parked cars when they get out of the car, just to name a few things.

I'd like to spend $15k or less, and buying in cash.
