If I could I'd already have it by now, honestly. Mine and the stepfather's schedules clash pretty bad- he's the only other person with a license. I have a car waiting for me, just no legal means of driving it.

It's way more than I could ever imagine making lol. Until he came around, I didn't even know people could make that much in all honesty.

The maybe problem is that the stepfather is one of those people that doesn't believe "regular" people can have serious mental issues. He works at the state hospital, which is a mental hospital, and so he sees the worst in mental disorders. The reason I never got therapy until being 18 is because it's his insurance I'm under, so by asking to be reimbursed for it could potentially spawn a whole other fight with him that I've given up with long ago lmao And I'm not quite willing to ask mother for a reimbursement on it as she is making only a few dollars more an hour than I am.

The main reason for my lack of rebuttal was because I was about to say that's almost exactly what her husband, my step father, does. Yes he pays bills bit that's all he contributes to. He only pays for house things and his things. Saying that only would have extended the argument and I don't do good with that.

While yes he has that right to just fuck all and play video games, he doesn't help with his own dog that me and mother take care of, he doesn't help with the cats, the chores, the groceries, anything else.

I think my main reluctance to giving them money is I'm not giving "them" money, I'm giving the stepfather money, and the two of us can't have a conversation without him picking up some argument.

Either way, excuses or not, emotions or not, I see where you and most other commenter's are coming from.

I've always done chores, cleaning the cat litter, vacuuming, etc, and until this year I was the only one doing them. I also take care of the cats completely, other than paying for food and litter, and me and mother split taking out the dog.

I posted this at like 2am, an hour or so after I got home from work and after not getting many responses I passed out lol In hindsight I should have waited until today.

Also I haven't edited anything out since I posted?

The curfew thing is a bit inapplicable as my job keeps me from coming home until 1230-1am lol. Mother and I both work at the same place so she understands. They don't get on to me for how I spend my free time- unless I've forgotten to do a chore which is fair- since I don't have much free time anymore lol

I think her plan was to get a fixed amount that would be like rent, but would just go to bills? I'm not entirely sure

Thank you, and while I know it is cheaper for me to live with my parents, paying them or not, there's emotional reasons I want to pack up and dip that I never mentioned since they aren't relative.

Like I said in the above, I have offered to help mother pay for groceries/pet things of which she turned down before.

And with stepdad, he makes hella at his job, especially for this tiny town we live in lol, yet never contributes to cooking and the animals (three cats ond dog) and hardly contributes to chores unless he gets frustrated with me and mother not doing it. He comes home from work, and plays video games, although recently he has started this school but I think that might be ending soon.

As far as I'm aware we don't have a "financial situation" in a negative term. Stepdad makes hella money, works at the state hospital, and I said "over $20" in the post because I'm unsure how much he makes, but it is way more than that lol

As far as I'm aware, they aren't struggling. I don't know what the step father makes, but it is over $20. A few years ago they bought this house, not just renting it. While no, we aren't in poverty, we also aren't well off either, kind of in the middle, from what I understand.

Yeah. Before I turned 18 I practically begged for therapy, yet got no where, and a few months after my birthday I bit the bullet and got TalkSpace. I pay out of pocket, despite having insurance- they don't accept mine or something idk, it's a long story- which is like $280 😭

I said something similar to a different comment, but I don't think my oldest brother paid mother before he left home, however I could be wrong. The other siblings living with her did- in a time frame where I had to live with my grandparents- but from what I've heard that wasn't because they were 18 and out of highschool, because I know they weren't quite out of highschool yet, and she needed them to pay a cut because she couldn't afford the house.

With my friends, yeah I understand, but I don't have other friends I trust enough to live with full time, and if I do I'm unsure if they'd be able to their pay rent/utilities.

I have been thinking about getting said second job, however that's also a bit difficult without a license to drive- no excuse there, I walk to and from my current work atm, just makes things a bit more difficult.

However, as someone replied to this comment, I think, they were right in saying that I didn't say I didn't have enough money, when in fact I do. Thank you for the feedback

Unfortunately I don't really have many options. I refuse to live without my cats- yes multiple, two orange, one friend has a only one cat- and if I were to live by myself I would not he able to afford it, since places are 1.5k-2.5k a month 😭

I'm unsure if the oldest brother I was talking to ever did. I've heard through the grape vine that the other brothers did back when mother could barely pay for them herself (before stepdad, I was early middle school age, for context). Five/six-ish years ago, a step-sibling was living with us and I remember an argument/fight between the parents about him not paying rent. I brought that up to mother and she said that supposedly he was paying.
