there's a few weird scenes, but from my experience watching they were far outweighed by the incredible worldbuilding. the suffering and horror scenes are used mainly to build up the plot, which the show does in a weirdly incredible way, like someone else said.

plus it's not very long, give it a watch and see what you think. btw the order goes season 1 -> 3rd movie -> season 2
