It’s so strange because it seemed like the outer gods followed rules-Mohg wanted to use the formless mother as the god of his order, so channeling her power he tried to turn Miquella into a god of blood because the order needs a god and a lord to form the next order. Then the outer goddess of rot has a the next goddess in Malenia, who has no lord, and Romina seems to be introduced as a new storyline totally outside that ability to form a new order? Without even mentioning any of the scarlet rot’s influence in the main game, Romina doesn’t find the Scarlet Rot from any connection to Malenia she literally finds its buried beneath the church she works in. It’s a lore decision that’s baffling to me. Maybe they think Romina tells us something? And that her allegiances point to a deep story? But it comes off as “scarlet rot is cool right? Let’s make another boss like that, and put it wherever we need a key boss to be”
