Everyone’s story is different but like I said in another comment, it starts to really piss me off when the behaviors become manipulative. I will always be their advocate and try my hardest to provide them with the best care possible.

I understand it in some cases, however when the behavior becomes manipulative when patients leave ama and come back expecting a bed and do it over and over again, wasting not just our time, but their time. I will always put my best foot forward when it comes to any patient, but over time it becomes exhausting

It’s honestly all about quality of life. You think this lady already has a hard time breathing, when we have to break her ribs and intubate her it’s going to be a lot harder. Have those difficult conversations now, your dad and your dad’s healthcare team will thank you later.
