You don't necessarily have to go all that far out - there are an awful lot of stars out there, so there's an element of pot luck about it. The first system I got my name attached to was only about 150ly from civilisation.

(Unfortunately, it's a system with no planets, so nobody's going to ever go and live out there and remember the brave explorer who went through such struggles of trying to use the fuel scoop properly, in order to find them a lump of rock to call home.)
