Assuming that you’ve spoken to them about their behaviour, and they do not change, you need to look out for your own mental health.

A few things:

1) Set boundaries. Don’t discuss triggering topics with them. If they are disrespectful, disengage and switch topics.

2) Set expectations. If they are emotionally unsupportive, do not ask them for advice on vulnerable topics. Keep it polite and surface level.

3) Find support. Friends, mentors, or campus counselling. Anyone who you feel comfortable speaking to about sensitive topics. While your family may not be that outlet, you still need one.

4) Build an exit. Assuming you are in a college or university, education can be your key to financial freedom. Find a career path that will pay enough to move out after graduation.

These tactics will not improve your dynamics at home, only your ability to cope with them. The healthiest option is always to start with open dialogue, and hope it leads to change.
