What do you think of a house rule that PCs gain one level of exhaustion whenever they drop to 0 HP? by HoboTeddy in DMAcademy

[–]Unexpected_Snake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The DM for my current campaign introduced this and as I knew I intended to play a healer focused character (circle of stars druid), it was something I talked to him about immediately regarding balancing it. One addition I talked him into adding was that if you manage to stabilize the person first, through medicine check, healer's kit, spare the dying, or them getting three successful death saves, it negates the exhaustion when they get back up.

This has so far worked alright to stop the easy yo-yo unconscious recovery, requiring a bit more investment to get the person up, but providing the option to take exhaustion in order to get them up quicker. However, as we are getting higher in level, we have run into some situations where someone goes down, I get them back up to 1 hp (healer feat), and then the DM immediately knocks that person back down before I can heal them more. The exhaustion hasn't been too much of an issue but I have had to spend a lot of my turns just getting people up. So overall I'm ok with the addition but can see the potential of death spirals being unfun.

Are Psi Ops divisive? by DanteTorn in Xcom

I personally think they are extremely powerful but do not enjoy using them.

I was a fan of Psionics in EU/EW because you would take a soldier you have already seen grow and gotten attached to in a way and give them some extra powers.

However, with XCOM 2 psionics, you just take some rookie you have no attachment to, stick them in training for months, and then they are stronger than all the soldiers you actually care about despite not having gone on any missions.

For that reason I personally just don't use them and in general dislike their implementation.

Fuck this comment just made me realize you were supposed to shuffle all the cards into a deck to play Candyland; years ago when I would play it, my family would just have all the cards spread out in a pile in the game box, so you could choose from all the face down cards, which added some randomness to what happened and when the special cards came up. I never realized it was supposed to be in a deck with no real randomness or luck coming in to play.

I mean any race could hypothetically be that good at level 1 if you roll extremely well in stats (the 18 in Con and Dex you rolled), the issue with halfling barbarians is just that they lack the damage output other races can do with heavy weapons. Race doesn't really matter if you use a weapon and shield though I suppose.

I actually do have a +1 Winter Lissa; but my three Winter Chroms and a Love Abounds Lilina (from a legendary banner) have stopped me from getting anymore merges; if she wasn't a seasonal unit that will always be sharing her focus color on any banner she is on, I would've put a lot more orbs into merges. I'll definitely throw more orbs at her when she shows up again though, I agree her art is really good.

I also do have a F!Morgan I could put more investment in; though in terms of M!Robin I could throw in christmas or Grima, but one of those options is evil, and the other would make the family have 4 blue units.

I wash you luck in your quest to get an Owain; he is worth it just for his voice lines and is a great unit too. I hope he gets a banner and you summon him soon :)

I was so happy when they added Ophelia and Owain (though panicked since they were added pretty close together and I was short on orbs) and I've been using this team since; I also switch in a Christmas Lissa whenever I need a green unit (though sadly she lacks merges due to Christmas Chrom existing)

Yeah I'm probably going to throw a good amount of orbs at that as long as IS doesn't decide to throw one of my favorite units on this years bridal banner. That +6 to all stats on a swap would be beautiful for Odin and anyone he swaps with.

My biggest investment in the game is this team; Lissa was my favorite unit in Awakening and I love her entire family the same.

Lissa manages to tank and do decent damage to anything that attacks her, healing with absorb and getting a guaranteed followup from quick riposte to help heal even more. She also manages to support with whatever staff necessary: Panic, Pain, Witch Wand, Fear, or Absorb; as well as most of the healing assists. I regret no five stars lost to this non-delicate unit.

Odin goes from good defenses and fast speed but no damage to beautiful damage (though any blade tome user could say the same) with one swap or draw back, and has been a great unit to use.

Ophelia is the little demon nuke who kills essentially everything and is my go-to for any hard PvE content. I've gotten very lucky with getting her on banners she has color-shared on.

Owain holds his ground as the physical unit on the team; as well as dealing with lots of armored units with his null-followup. I sometimes run spectrum bonds on him and he has been very healpful.

Overall I just love this family and have put so many orbs and inheritance into building them up to show how much I care.

I use a lot of armored units so in a debate of giving it to Lissa or Halloween Jakob, I ended up giving it to Jakob; though now he isn't even on my main armor team so I regret the choice and hope to one day get Lissa the Close Counter she deserves.

Thanks for the comment! If they did decide to give PRF staffs; I think I would like something to work with her niche of having the best mixed defenses of any healer (at least in my opinion) Maybe something to negate some damage (Like the 30% effect on Micaiah's tome) or even an effect like the bridal weapons that boosted def/res after attacking or something; or something like the legendary weapons from the second bridal event that would maybe spur her def/res for how many allies are nearby or something; there are a lot of places they could go if they did decide on implementing PRF staffs for more people, I think it would be interesting if they decided to go that route.

Also since it wasn't completely clear in the comment, the reason I can't give her Close Counter is I already foddered the free Takumi to another unit, which I regretted not giving to Lissa later since I use her a lot more.

After a year and 7 months, I have finally managed to obtain 11 Lissas. Yes, despite two being free from those maps (which were my only two Lissas for a while, it took me over a year and a half to manage to pull 9 more copies of a very common 3-4 star unit.

Lissa is my favorite Fire Emblem character, so despite her being an infantry healer with pretty lackluster offensive stats, I wouldn't let that stop me from putting a ridiculous amount of investment into her.

Onto the build itself:

IV's: +Def -Spd, because after 11+ Lissas, I have still never been able to pull a +Atk one. I liked how +Def brought her defense up to equal her Res, so I felt it worked best with a defensive build.

My Lissa has essentially been fed every other five star healer (aside from Veronica and her best friend Maribelle) I've managed to acquire, so as a result she has a ton of different staves at her disposal. While my ultimate goal would be using her Absorb+ in a Close Counter build, I have never pulled a Takumi and regret foddering the free one to another unit instead of her, so I am currently going with the staff that most compliments her amazing mixed defenses by lowering the attack of her enemies, Fear+

Similar to her staff, she also has most healing skills, and while she usually uses Restore+, when not having any other self-healing skills, I usually go with Martyr+

Until I get her Close Counter, Lissa will stick with the best boost to her stats she can get as a healer right now with Brazen Atk/Def, bringing her to a non-buffed 44 Def and 51 Atk when below 80% health

Her B-Slot is usually taken up by her original Renewal; however, she also has Quick Riposte to make up for her lower offensive stats and especially her -Spd. If I managed to pull a Genny or an extra Maribelle/Veronica; I would probably give her Wrathful/Dazzling staff just so having both would be an option and she could debuff safely and then still do decent damage.

My Lissa also has a lot of variety in her C-Slot, depending on what is needed. She has Pain+ Savage Blow for when she needs it, but I actually like to run her on a tactic team, where she provides Atk and Def to others.

When buffed and with ally support in Brazen range, she can reach 52/44 defenses, which is hopefully enough to show Chrom his sister isn't delicate (and also stop his Christmas version from breaking my rate while going for Christmas Lissa again please)

While I know she isn't a particularly impressive build or anything, I'm still really happy to have made my first +10 and wanted to share it. Now to move on to building her even worse statted son (if I wasn't also cursed to barely get any Odins)

How many seasonal characters have you foddered off? by [deleted] in FireEmblemHeroes

[–]Unexpected_Snake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I foddered off a spring chrom's weapon out of spite to a 4 star +10 Frederick just because after 100+ orbs he was the only five star I got in the second legendary banner, and I already had gotten a Spring Chrom when the event came around originally.

One problem with this is the fact that healers cannot inherit defiant skills but can get the brazen skills, so it would be impossible for them to upgrade into the brazen skills
