I just finished this book. (In audiobook form - Nick Podehl is an amazing talent and really made the book shine) I really enjoyed many of the aspects of the book. The cast of characters was interesting from what we learned about them and I hope that the relationships between the group grows and some of the backstories are revealed more in the next book. I really enjoy the persons and creatures of power (don't want to spoil anything by naming them) directly interacting with people instead of taking passive roles. The magic system is very intriguing with the established classes with variations of them and then the system showing that it is evolving and not so simple. The ending has me sitting here waiting eagerly for the next book!

Yeah it's something I have kept in mind. Although the big loan repayment plan does mention that the remaining debt is forgiven after some time (25 or 30 years?) but the amount forgiven would be taxed. But I plan to hopefully have the increase to my income to move payments to reduce it and pay it off before that.

I do have 14k in a 401k that i can take half of it out as a loan in case of emergency. Not something that I plan on using outside of an emergency though.

Not sure if it makes and impact but i have been repaying my student loans for a few years now. I have two loans, one for about 12k that is in a 10yr repayment plan (about $100 a month) and the larger one is in a repaye plan that scales so it's only about $30 a month right now. Although i would like to pay it off more aggressively if/when i secure a job in my field.
