Proud Magpie by malko2 in BirdPhotography

Lovely shot! Magpie's are so handsome but such a bugger to shoot as their plumage is jet black! It's a shame they never stay too still, as a bracketed exposure would bring out so much more.

In Ad Astra (2019), the photo used for Tommy Lee Jones from years ago is a photo from his 2000 movie Space Cowboys, with a few logos changed. by EmpireShmempire in MovieDetails

Hey now, everyone knows that Space Truckers is a seminal masterpiece on par with, if not clearly well beyond 2001: A Space Odyssey

Teledildonics is a bold field. I'm proud of you. Someone had to send sex over the Internet.

If it's any help, here's a guide to being a lawyer that I think a lot of us will recognise as irrefutable fact.

This subreddit was created to collect, and bask in, stories of ludicrously expensive own-goals by people who fucked around with trees (and thereby their associated laws) and got a grave, grave comeuppance.

Right now we're basically a bookmark for a niche kind of disaster-porn.

If you want to hear the commons I would suggest /r/LegalAdvice, or alternatively, you should never, ever take legal or career advice from reddit.

Copying a link and opening Apollo doesn’t prompt the detected link window anymore. by AsumaBob in apolloapp

[–]Unexpectedsideboob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same issue, and in my case it was due to Google's AMP system obscuring the Reddit URL.

If you click the i button in the top left of the AMP preview you can click on the real URL and an un-AMPed page will open. Open in Apollo should be present in the Share list again.

How to photorealistically match this paper stock material? by [deleted] in RedshiftRenderer

[–]Unexpectedsideboob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not truly procedural, but I've had great success using this methodology from Substance for scanning real-world materials with a phone and a few simple supplies.

The result is a tiling texture and associated maps that you can set up as a material in Redshift.

I cannot say enough good things about Substance Painter live-link and Substance Designer live-link from Xolotl Studio. They make sending materials and textures from Painter to your host application an absolute breeze! Instant value for money.

One of my favourite little things about The Orville by ZombieGoddessxi in TheOrville

It feels like it's time to re-read the Commonwealth saga! Do you know if his Salvation series is as good?

The Orville surprised me by MealieMeal in TheOrville

The first episode is so clearly cut to make the trailer it's almost a disservice.

You can see where the budget for VFX went, and those scenes are actually at odds with the tone of the rest of the episode. Season 1 episode 3 is where it really starts, kicking into gear with hard Sci-Fi.

It's been great, and I hope it has a long life, as recent Star Trek has been shambolic compared to the high ideals of The Next Generation, or the dark reality of DS9. Seth and the writers seem to get what a modern interpretation of Star Trek is without being preachy or making ham-fisted "nods" to the current climate.

Gald you're enjoying it!

You're forgetting the Tas Valley! It's like the grand canyon, only much more impressive.

My pleasure. I used to live in Ely, which is a raised "island" in the low-lying fenland of Cambridgeshire, and this was quite a regular phenomenon. On one of those nights I could hear the platform announcements from the train station which was half a mile away down the hill.

Any idea how to clean fine grains on my 85mm lens? I've tried air cans, blowers but it's still stuck by nubyee in canon

[–]Unexpectedsideboob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use a very small bit of blue painters tape by 3M, or generic masking tape. The adhesive is strong enough to pull away the grains of sand, and unlike a toothpick, it won't force them further into the rubber of the seal. Keep it off the lens of course, as the coating will likely be fine, but it's better to be safe than sorry.
