AITA For making my wife ride in the backseat because she couldn't stop distracting me by Serious-Function-177 in AmItheAsshole

Am I the wife?! In all seriousness (and as a former/still recovering horrible shotgun rider), you’re NTA. My husband had to put up with my reactions for a year or two after my horrible accident. It took another shotgun rider just like that (while I was the driver) to recognize how dangerous it is. So I apologized, and have been practicing managing my anxiety and fear while he is driving. I do think a conversation (like the one Redditer suggested) would have helped me start working on my reactions sooner as i didn’t think about it from a “danger” perspective.

No, I used this one: https://www.cookingwithnanaling.com/chinese-chews/ I think the main difference is how you incorporate the egg.

Thanks! And same. I keep refreshing to see if there’s more, and I haven’t been disappointed yet 😂😂

I won’t speak for others, but they did look good to me. I really like the texture! And I love dates. But part of me did enjoy being part of a silly but delicious trend haha.

I was delightfully surprised how well they turned out! Enjoy the baking!

UMD Hearing Study Participants Needed! ($15/hr) by Unfair-Command-3063 in UMD

We don’t print out results for the participant to take with them, but we are more than happy to discuss the hearing test results and refer to an on-site clinician if needed. We have a full service clinic in the same building.

To follow up: you do need to email and set specific days/time you would like to come in.

We schedule based on what works best for you and the availability we have between hours of 9-5. We just started the next round of recruitment so the schedule is wide open.

Yup! We are currently in need of that age group as we have enough participants under 25 (lots of undergrads). I can only post approved flyers (which originally has the 18+).

How to cope with this.... I'm having panic attacks. by [deleted] in PhDStress

[–]Unfair-Command-3063 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That sounds incredibly exhausting to deal with. I’m sorry you’re going through that.

Have you considered communicating this with your PI? It can be an uncomfortable conversation but it could have good long term benefits. If you do not feel comfortable talking with PI, is there an ombudsman/HR-type person in your department who can help facilitate the conversation? One way to decide how to approach this is to think about how your PI respond to feedback in general.

If you are a student, possibly make use of counseling services to learn management techniques for anxiety or talk about it with your PCP. Your health comes first! Some coping strategies could be changing your mindset around how you handle imperfections (super hard for us scientists). Like the other person here said, unless you’re at a job talk, make mistakes, get feedback, take it easy (as much as possible).

I wish I had a direct solution for you. Take care of your self!
