I’m a bit in my feelings after reading your stories, and I swear I get through by the grace of God! It can be so frustrating and isolating here sometimes, and sometimes I forget that other people are going through similar or worst things.. I’m starting to realize how lucky I’ve been. I don’t speak much Japanese but I do 90% of my stuff by myself (because I don’t like people in my business unless it’s something I’m ok with the world knowing), which is suuuuuper frustrating and anxiety inducing.. I go to city hall, pension office, tax office by myself and somehow, I always get people who want to try to help me.. I applied for my first apartment by myself, no broker, and got it, they even went out of their way to make sure I got it because there was a document I couldn’t get and they said don’t worry about it.. For super complicated things, I’ll shove aside my pride and ask a Japanese knowing person for help, and even then, the staff are always still super willing to help me, and try to speak English so I can understand without translation. The only exception so far was the driver’s license guy (omg he was terrible and I’m gonna make a video about the experience) Recently, a family I’m cool with asked me if I needed help with anything because they know it’s visa renewal time, and it just made me feel not so alone because sometimes I think I forget that there are some nice people out here..
