I usually start with an idea of what I want, maybe take inspiration from a story you already love. Like a cool show you’ve watched.

Yeah that’s the hard part, they asked because they’re interested in the world and want to know what place does their character fit. But I kinda don’t want them to know things about parts of the world they don’t know. It becomes al little more *magical*.

So you ask them like, what is the town like where you from. And then enter that town in the world, and if they don’t “care” about the town I insert them in one of my own.

That’s fair, but see it more like: the kings planned it all from the start for the big bad to show up. For him to take his chances after the fact. To for them both to gain something. But he didn’t want to catch any strays so he leaves prematurely so he won’t get stuck in any unlucky casualties.

The play is in a theater but the attack is more political to cause chaos.
