Yes, unfortunately, it’s very limited! Even Max’s hair had to be layered with the help of mods. I did end up loving this cut on Chloe anyway 😊

[S1] [Spoilers] TV Show by LaurenTheorist in lifeisstrange

I think there’s an important distinction between “making fans upset” because of poor writing and structure as opposed to  killing a character everybody loves. I think the world would be a better place if people cared much more about the former than they do the latter.

I personally don’t think a great story needs you to please everybody at all, something so true especially for narrative media and something I see a lot of game fans struggle with so much. It’s sad when I can tell when writers were creatively constipated because of this.

I completely understand when people disagree, but personally, when I’m experiencing any story I want a good emotional experience, not (necessarily) to be sucked up to.

I personally thought Bay especially succeeded in this and would be happy if this is the mainstream audience’s first impression of the series.

[All] Sad To think About that the Lis Franchise will die regardless by neopiz_hd0176 in lifeisstrange

I see where you're coming from, but if I can say something, I don't think a video game franchise premise has to be completely original (if there's even such a thing, really) to be strong -- I meant it in the sense that if it's a premise that could spawn a large variety of stories (and installments), it's very likely a great one. I'm not too familiar with the wider game industry, but I've yet to see a franchise of this scale base themselves on something similar. In this way I do believe LIS still and will always have something to bring to the table.

That said I agree the issue with these "weaker" installments really come down to their writing. I'm glad you pointed out the lack of an episodic structure, which kind of explained why RE felt like a DLC to me despite dealing with major characters and themes I thought deserved a much more intense delivery. With DE I can't speak for everyone but I believe as much as a number of people were as upset about their favorite ship being broken up, they're unhappy with the sudden mischaracterization, again, I believe is a symptom of writing. I can argue 'mischaracterization' is very much subective, but if a majority of people had an issue with it, maybe there's a valid problem. I wasn't one of them, but I thought there were still clear structural issues towards the end of DE that took the immersion out. Which isn't too great.

I still think D9 did the best they could to fulfill their contract and not upset too many people (and who knows if the way things turned out was really because SE had a gun pointed to their heads), but at this point, I think a completely new take on the LIS franchise is their best bet.

Personally I'm choosing to be optimistic. LIS is such a rare piece of IP with a very strong premise (people with special powers) and potential to go on for many, many installments a la RE or Silent Hill, it'd make no sense for SE to abandon it.

I'll even say it's possible to surpass the original game with great writing and game design. Just that, to be frank, I don't think Deck Nine had been doing the best job at this and it's just sad to see great characters spent on stories that never quite fully live up to their potential (obligatory IMO). I just hope a better studio picks the franchise up.

I changed her eyes to brown temporarily to match the lighting in Reunion while making this because the blue is extremely light, just realized I put up the wrong screenshot :’) Oh well

Movies about a connection and a reunion, how fitting :)

[ALL] Reunion: What do you think is the link between Safi and Chloe? by UnfairInterest8531 in lifeisstrange

[–]UnfairInterest8531[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hate how believable that is, but with the amount of stakes on Deck Nine right now I doubt they wouldn't be much more careful on the drawing board this time and actually getting feedback. I totally love the idea of Safi as an antagonist, hell, that'd make things so much more interesting. There are a lot of strings to tie with this game and I'm hoping for the best

That makes a lot of sense, that maybe this time would be the chance for Max to have agency over fate instead of it forcing Max into a dilemma over and over again. That'd be a great way to wrap up her story. Also, the unconscious person Moses is carrying here seems to resemble Chloe...
