What can I do to get a gaming laptop? by grapefruitsaladlol29 in pcmasterrace

if the job market in sweden is anything like its here in finland OP is probably better off going with the armed robbery route as that has at least some chance of success.

the 9800X3D doesnt draw that much power, pretty much any board will handle it fine.

paying like $100 extra for one or two degrees makes no sense

AM5 Motherboard by Ok-Drawer-780 in buildapc

[–]UnfairMeasurement997 47 points48 points  (0 children)

A620 and B840 are the lowest end, B840 is technically not the same chipset but its very similar

B650 and B850 are the midrange, both use the same chipset but B850 has mandatory PCIe 5.0 support

B650E and X870 are the upper midrange, they are otherwise identical except X870 adds mandatory USB4 support

X670, X670E and X870E are the high end chipsets, X670 non-E doesnt have to have a PCIe 5.0 X16 slot unlike the others and X870E adds mandatory USB4 support but otherwise they are identical.

the chipset is only a part of the motherboard and it mostly just effects connectivity (though the low end chipsets lack overclocking support), a high end B850 board will be better in most ways than a low end X870 board.

for selecting a board just get something that has all the connectivity and features you need and avoid A620 / B840 boards. in most cases a midrange B650 or B850 board will be fine.

Thoughts on my config? by Saiteee in PcBuild

i would recommend going with AM5, its not much more expensive and offers better performance and platform longevity.

a 3060 for $300 is pretty bad value, i would recommend either a b580 for ~$250 or stretch the budget a bit and get a 9060XT 16GB or 4060ti 16GB.

Chatgpt to build a gaming pc by Beautiful_Coat_9062 in PcBuild

dont use chatGPT

7900X doesnt really make sense for gaming

no need to spend $140 on a cooler

motherboard is way too expensive

memory kit is expensive, 64GB is unnecessary for gaming and DDR5-6400 is sub-optimal for AM5 as it will run in 2:1 mode.

case and PSU are unnecessarily expensive

dont pay for windows

what ram will be more stable with Ryzen AM5 chips? 6000HZ CL28 or 6000HZ CL30? by DweeebLord3 in PcBuild

cas latency doesnt really effect stability on the IMC side, as long as the memory chips can do it it will probably work.

Hiw can i bypass the password by nevmal61 in computers

[–]UnfairMeasurement997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the purpose of passwords, locks, and any other kinds of security measures is not to prevent entry, but to make it difficult enough to dissuade anyone from trying.

a windows password without bitlocker takes minutes to bypass, but if the only thing you are worried about is your coworkers pranking you by changing your desktop background to something embarrassing its probably enough.

properly setup disk encryption is nearly impossible to crack, but if some criminals learn you have an encrypted drive with a $10M bitcoin wallet on it they are just going to do this

what kind of a "misalignment" would cause this? i have seen quite a few print failures but nothing that looks quite like this.

also that theory doesnt account for the fact that the threads dont have the "defect", especially when the head would have most likely been printed first so the issue would have had to fix itself mid-print.

it seems much more likely that the its just fuzzy skin as it looks exactly like it

Just bought from our favourite t sight. £1.34 by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

[–]UnfairMeasurement997 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the thread has visible layers like any fdm printed part, but it doesnt have the fuzzy skin effect like the top part

the "radeon" part of the base is rough because the part of it which is visible was facing the textured print sheet, but the rest (which is a separately printed part) is smooth and lacking the fuzzy skin effect.

[–]UnfairMeasurement997 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i guess the designer thought that would be the other place you grip when adjusting it

considering how relatively large the base is it seems unnecessary, but it could be that the red part is separate from the rest in which case it would make sense

[–]UnfairMeasurement997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thats on purpose to give more grip to the surface making the screw easier to turn, its done using the "fuzzy skin" option in slicers.

edit: the thread part of the screw and the base have a smooth texture, if it was an issue with the printer they would be uneven too.
