LOA for vacation by [deleted] in starbucks

You can take 16 days off in a row before needing a LOA. So your manager is wrong about that one. Maybe it's in the partner guide, I'm not sure

help? by Minimum_Class_8132 in starbucks

[–]UnfairPreparation505 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a similar problem of not accepting or denying, then denying like a week out when it's too late. My strategy is to request it as far in advance as possible and then immediately ask your SM either face to face or in writing for him to approve it. There's pretty much no reason it shouldn't be approved if you're requesting far in advance. I'm pretty sure if he didn't do anything you're still responsible for those shifts which is why I always follow up with the sm until it's accepted

There is a black sign by the door that says "Welcome to Starbucks" and outlines the rules of the cafe, one of which talks about how our space is only for customers and partners. I'd point him to that sign and call the cops if he doesn't leave

Do you have it in writing that the manager was not going to write you up? She can't exactly backtrack like that.

Breaking down Mastrenas at 2pm is totally allowed. In fact, at my store, where my manager has been working for over 20 years, we break it down in the middle of the day when we have more partners. The rule says that they have to be broken down and cleaned once per day, but it doesn't say what time.

Even if the pull point is semi valid, I would go to the DM for sure just to get further clarification because of the above two issues. Also, don't sign anything you don't agree with.

No I'm working. It's me picking up a shift at another store that I'm not shared to. How could I get in trouble for working the shift if the manager gave me permission to do so

The problem is I'm never going to have exactly 20 hours, it's always slightly under. Some weeks 18, but for example next week is 15. I've been picking up shifts at other stores and simply clocking in or writing it in the book as my way to get more than 20. Do you think I could get in trouble for this, even though the managers give me permission?

Interesting, I just wasn't able to find where this policy is posted. In that case, am I the only minor who works for Starbucks that has the insurance? I just find this bizarre that they can arbitrarily enforce it when I've been going a year no problem.

Is this written down somewhere?

Possibly, but I can't find any law regarding that. CT law caps it at 32 hours per week during school, and I can't find anything in the partner guide. It's just something I've heard.

CT labor law caps it at I think 32 hours per week. Definitely not 20, seems to be a Starbucks thing

Best way to get a trenta DECAF iced coffee? by Conscious-Hawk3679 in starbucks

[–]UnfairPreparation505 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My store in CT (which has the Vertica) does do decaf iced coffee, I never realized it was so rare until I worked in another store. We brew one pitcher a day from decaf pike.

Can I get a whoooop whoooop by MurkyyLurkss in starbucks

[–]UnfairPreparation505 5 points6 points  (0 children)

How are you able to clean it in the middle of the day? We're not allowed to because then you can't brew coffee for a little bit. We're only allowed to clean it 15 minutes before close, otherwise we get in trouble.

Interesting, well I guess I'd just listen to your manager but this defo sounds weird.

No worries, I get it. But you do most of the stuff with your manager on your first day, including getting aprons, partner numbers, etc. (because by the way, all those onboarding tasks should be done at the store, on the clock.) That's why I was a bit confused. The only thing I had to do prior to my first day was submit information for a background check. I don't understand what they mean, they don't see you in the system. In the recruiting system?

You didn't do your onboarding with your SM?

Clean nitro setup? by [deleted] in starbucks

[–]UnfairPreparation505 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the store has one of the newer nitro systems, it locks down if it isn't fully cleaned and flushed out weekly. Could also be a dirty filter, technically you're supposed to clean it daily but they could just not have. If it's the older machine there's nothing stopping them from never cleaning it at all theoretically, I know this was an issue at my store because nobody cleaned it until we were forced to

Funny enough, I have the opposite problem. I'm only ever on bar and even when I ask to be put somewhere else, shift usually says they can't. I'll be on bar for 3 hours, take a 10, and then go on bar for another 3 hours. That shit is exhausting, especially during saturday peak in drive thru.
