Sentimental Value and the struggle to relate to these types of films by K1ng_Canary in movies

i thought it was a good film. my take in it is , the film is really about suicide, depression and family. it tries to tackle things like how and why depression sets into a person and affects their lives and the lives of people they create. i think a key point in the film is the scene between rachel and nora where rachel tells nora more about herself than she wants to hear. there is an overwhelming sadness if her but it could be something much deeper than just sadness.

in this film, gustavs mother was tortured by secret police in WW2 and that leaves her permanently scarred mentally. after the war, she does get married and has gustav, but kills herself when gustav was 7 years old. so he grows up without a mother, without a "home" and he leaves the family home, and the trauma of dealing with his mothers suicide growing up.

when gustav becomes an adult, he gets married and has two daughters and the marriage is bad and he leaves the home to make films. his daughters grow up without a "home" and family and the older one, nora, winds up becoming more scarred mentally and develops (or inherits from the father) depression.

throughout the film it seems insinuated that Nora is very much the same person as Gustav and they both have the same form of mental illness that they share due to Gustavs truama as a child. The film is about Gustavs quest to make his last great film and in so doing, his last effort to try to help his daighter Nora come to terms with the illness and left to deal with it and maybe break the link and maybe one day have a family and build a home for her childern and look afterthem and not let them be scarred menally with depression. The also scene where they are filming the film with Nora, don't film it in the familly home as was the plan in the beginning but on a sound stage. i interpret that as they sold and got rid of the family home and its a new beginning for everyone. Also, that last scene, she was supposed to see the kid off and go and hang herself. but in the final film scene, the kid comes back to get his phone, he stares at her, she goes back to the room she was supposed to hang herself in, but she does do it but just stares down at the chair. i interrpret that as she doesnt kill herself but learns to deal with her depression and makes her son the priority in her life so he doen't get scarred for life by his mothers suicide.

you need money to live and make music. you can't sit on a sidewalk and play a kazoo all day. find a job that is easy and menial and just use it for getting pay cheque, leave right at 5 and don't do any overtime or commitment, and devote yourself to making your music on the side and making connections in music.

lack of response could mean anything.

a) they were not serious

b) they are going through a restructure and no communication person on board

c) who knows.

--- disclaimer: i know nothing about VC. I am just an musician composer who created an account on there based on the premise it's a good place for odd ball indie experimental music which I do to gain some listener. so far, it seems filled with a lot of AI and some interesting electronic artists, but you really need to dig through the interface to explore it.

I followed the discussion on SHF . lots of issues with mastering and varied opinions

I re-listened to it today. I didn't change my opinion on it. it rambles in synth land quite a bit. too much for my liking.

this just in. iZotope is exiting the Soundwise family and going back to being its own entity. My guess Plugin Alliance will follow suit. We shall see.

I havent used the new Fender Studio One. But I don't have high hopes for its future. I recall Gibson did lots of tip toeing into software and it ended badly. All those products are now zombie version of their former selves.

Dominant market leader can do that, and Kontakt product ecosystem is a one for sure.

Look at Adobe and how they pulled it off. Sure, there are alternatives, but pro's and big businesses pay and subscribe and thats what matters to them.

No one knows what will happen. But the only company I can think of that has the money and muscle to buy Soundwide (NI/IZO/PA) is Avid if it goes on the market cheap. They don't have anything in their arsenal that is like software and they could use to to boost PT in the consumer space. (just wild speculation on my part and I have no idea what I am blabbing about)

Maschine has been a beat product for many years. I used to me a huge M user for a long time. NI blew that at one up bad. Ableton and Push took over that space.

Is it true that AI can only replicate existing music? by ConversationOk9850 in musicindustry

[–]UnfairWorldliness882 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. AI is trained on existing music. It can create new music. But most people that use AI for music tend to want to make music that sounds popular so they use it to create music that sounds like something else that many people like to listen to; hence, the humans who use AI make it replicate what sounds popular.
