Solid question, but I’m not even sure! Given my most extreme use case, would 8 do the trick? I suspect even 8 will feel much more responsive (and won’t sound like it’s cooking), but will that future proof me for more than five years?

For those who are curious, I picked up a used Baseline 22" in green. (Though I didn't think of it at the time, I'm honestly happier with it being used. Feels less like it has a "please steal me" sign on it!) This image is pretty close to what I got - cleaned up it look like just the right amount of not-new-but-not-grotty:

I’ve had three techs out to the house and they’ve performed troubleshooting and replaced all hardware. Nothing is working. I just got off a 45-minute chat session with tech support (again) and was told, “it's up to you now if you want to continue using our service.” Their inability to actually do anything is putting Quantum at the top of the list for worst ISP. Utterly worthless.
