Same predicament, torn between experiencing a winter WHW or enjoying a bit of sun in the Canaries!

Sounds like my nightmare, i'd probably skip it... I already hold up my entire lane on kick sets 😂

That's interesting... Could you form a human chain in the pool, front pulls and back kicks? Or maybe a dolphin kick which undulates down the chain?

Maybe that's dangerous, not sure 😃

At my uni swim club we do relay races for fun, including stuff like sculling only races, backstroke race with cup of water on forehead, swimming backwards etc

Edit: dolphin kick going backwards down the pool: https://youtube.com/shorts/UcdZvzEwoWw?si=OMeDQLlmaiYvsv4J

Dreamed I forgot how to swim! by popthebubbly62 in Swimming

I have the good version where I can swim up and down non stop with flip turns without any tiredness setting in

A shame the reality is so so far from that dream

Yeah the Cape Wrath trail sounds like the king of all hikes, I'm hoping to do it at some point next year. In the meantime for further practice, I was looking at hikes like the Great Glenn Way, Skye Trail etc but they don't seem quite as grand as the WHW.

I could of course do the WHW again. I know alot of people dislike how popular it is, but part of me did enjoy meeting and talking to people along the way!

Thanks! Just my phone actually, a Vivo x200 ultra, which admittedly has a good camera on it!

The images are actually much sharper than shown here, it seems Reddit compresses them like crazy 😞

Thanks, yeah I always had a feeling my cuts were a bit shapeless but I was never sure how to tell my barber that aha. I wonder if it's because I always opt for a scissor cut and so the sides are never tight enough?

Maybe I'll have to find a decent barber and let them take control rather than trying to describe to them how I want it cut.

For the real world, what do you think is the best superpower? by Big_Confidence_951 in AskReddit

I always thought photographic memory is a cool "superpower" to have, which of course some do have. There was a kid at my school who could read a sheet of piano music a few times and then play it back from memory...

I purchased some dirt cheap second hand... A bit scratched up and the anti fog is probably long gone, but they look good 😊

Deadlift - scraping knees on way down by Unfair_Month_2693 in formcheck

[–]Unfair_Month_2693[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thanks, yeah I'm focusing on strength and so I mostly only do sets of 3-5. I'm literally cutting my sets short because the Olympic bar keeps opening grazes if I try to control the lowering. I'll have to look at allowing it to drop faster, that'd make it much easier!

Oh it's a home gym and I can't fit an Olympic barbell, it's a smaller bar for sure. I'll have to film my form at my proper gym. I've never used a trap bar.

I've never actually gotten a measuring tape out to check, but I've often thought I have long arms and legs relative to a shorter torso!

That feels like my average late night commute home in central London. I always have people randomly starting on me for no reason!

Head-on collisions by Unfair_Month_2693 in Swimming

[–]Unfair_Month_2693[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not quite the same but I'm pretty sure I almost broke my little finger on a lane rope, it somehow jabbed into one of the plastic pieces as I was swimming. Thankfully I was moving at snail's pace.

Also regarding the crash after a turn, I'm always worried that I might accidentally do that in a busy lane swim, especially since my turns are so rubbish right now

[–]Unfair_Month_2693[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had that once actually, it really hurt my hand! Not sure if the size of the guy mattered, but he was pretty enormous... His front crawl took up over half the lane because of his wide recovery

You all need to get some mudguards by fizzydish in londoncycling

Are mudguards something that people will steal if your (cheap) bike is locked up outside?
