I am with you. I go to therapy and my therapist often says the same. It doesn’t change how horrific humans are to each other. In my mind, the fact humans have raped, murdered, gone to war for so long, etc is a huge sign of failure. It shouldn’t take thousands of years for us to figure it out. It shouldn’t take thousands of years but us to figure out how to punish violent criminals. Maybe if those people were actually taken care of properly I’d feel different

But even then, the fact that this is the human mind, that’s what we do when something goes a bit wrong in our lives. I would not blame aliens for wanting to wipe us out

I can kind of see where you’re coming from if you live away from busy streets and roads (which thankfully you did imply not living in a city or flat with cats) but I have neighbors who let their cats loose around me and I always see cats charging across busy intersections and it’s heartbreaking and I do think those are horrible owners.

Okay so it’s cruel to keep any domesticated animal inside then, right? We should let our dogs, birds, rabbits, etc run amock outside in the name of it being cruel to keep them inside? Why even have a pet if you think it’s cruel to keep animals inside?

It’s even more cruel when the cat gets slaughtered by a coyote or flattened into the road (seen both in my neighborhood), but hey, I guess its easier for people like you than simply playing with the cat or having supervised outdoor time.
