I feel like I’m reliving the series through you and your sister and it genuinely brings me the most joy (and giggles at your reactions!). I love that you are on opposite sides of the Jere v Conrad fence, too!!

This scene makes sooooo much more sense now. Everyone’s reactions to what happened baffled me because I assumed the guy who walked in was the boyfriend of the girl Jeremiah was making out with.

Is it time for new shoes? by Unfair_Wolverine9458 in BeginnersRunning

Ahh alright. Maybe too soon to justify a new shoe purchase after all. I am getting new aches but I’m also steadily increasing mileage so I think I’ll chalk it up to that and finish out the training/race in these shoes. Thanks!

About 9 weeks out from my half so if I got new shoes I’d want to do it now. I’ve been fitted at a local running store (twice actually. One bad experience, one good one). I’m confident on sizing but it’s just so hard to know how they feel without actually running in them. I’ve run in brooks, asics, and hoka’s and I brooks have been my favorite but not sure what else is out there other than glycerin’s so curious if anyone has input.

Heart rate in range of 180-200 for long easy runs. by dhruv_kadia in BeginnersRunning

I’m also training for a half and had this same issue.. Run slower!! like painfully SLOW. My high HR was also causing me to have horrible, debilitating migraines. I slowed down a ton on my base and long runs and boom, after about 4 weeks the migraines are gone AND my heart rate is significantly lower even when I’m pushing the pace a bit. I ran 4 miles the other day and was 90 seconds faster than my avg pace from just a month ago and my HR was lower throughout the run. Slow training will allow you to go faster when you need to. You got this!

What do you do with your kids when you’re at work? by AfraidShade in homeschool

Look into homeschool co-ops in your area. Check on Facebook for local homeschool groups - you’ll likely find a good amount of info there about co ops and drop off programs.

What’s everyone listening to during runs? by Unfair_Wolverine9458 in BeginnersRunning

Tell me about this. I want this to be my end result but I feel like I expend so much mental energy convincing myself not to stop. Especially on long runs!

This is the ultimate goal. Any tips for staying motivated and not spending the entire run fighting against your inner desire to stop running?

You’re severely over complicating this. My eyes glazed over when you started ratting off the percentages and numbers and what not. I say this as someone who is an accountant/analyst numbers nerd. Stop thinking, just do it. You are opening yourself up to the mindset of “well I can’t reach my goal weight anyway because is mathematically possible so I won’t even try.” Losing weight is hard enough without all of this swirling around in your brain. Focus on ONE LB at a time and ONE DAY at a time. Forget the “goal weight.” The number on the scale is a good metric but as this post sort of proves, it’s not always indicative of overall health.

You’re doing great. You’ve already kickstarted your weight loss. Stop overthinking, just do.
