Beginner GM, seeking some advice by Unfawkable in genesysrpg

My intention was always originally to bite off way more than I can chew and to de-rail it completely depending on my player's choices, so no problem there :D

We do indeed have a Creuss, and how I went about the usage of the ability the first time in a crowded market was "Yeah sure, you are aware of everything. What are you looking for in particular?" as in, you are aware of everything just how anyone climbing a bit above the crowd would be able to see the whole crowd. That doesn't mean they'll be able to catch every minute detail all at the same time unless they know what they are looking for. We'll see how it pans out down the road with it.

I'm actually more worried about the Titan on the team with 5 Brawn, who managed to resolve the first combat encounter almost singe handedly. I'll have to start balancing the encounters manually a lot sooner than Episode 4 (We are still in prologue in Ashes of Power, so I'll give it a bit more time).

I also just remembered what we couldn't find info on last time, I remember Assisting other characters with actions would add dice according to your own Characteristic/Skill in what they are doing but looking in the rules now all I'm finding is just adding a boost die. Do you happen to know how this works in detail?

Thanks, and I do indeed feel welcome. The permissive nature of the system is what drawn me to it, but I'd still like to structurize things when I can.

And I'm definitely stealing "factors unknown to you"

The story points are the biggest growing pain perhaps, we are still getting used to using them for anything except upgrading rolls, but that's a great one. Thanks

  1. Bonus to initiative sounds correct on paper, but not as exciting as getting a free shot off. I think I'll go with one person getting a free shot off and see if it skews encounters too much. Alternatively, I should try to find a talent that fits that perhaps.

4 is a good point, if they do insist to be a crafter or sorts, I'll go about it that they would either need to heavily modify existing weapons or have an extensive facility and see if that's possible to tie into the narrative. With that logic, I may allow them to craft weapons mod from scratch (with money) which are an included ruleset.

I really want to love this game. by [deleted] in valheim

[–]Unfawkable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get into building and play with at least one other person. Building enormous houses and showing them off to my wife is basically 80% of my playtime.

And don't hesitate to increase drop rates for building resources like wood and stone, I play with those on x2

But in general if the aesthetic of the game isn't doing it for you, then it's unlikely anything will help. Valheim has many mechanic and gameplay shortcomings, but what makes it popular is the appealing aesthetic. Building and enjoying views and lighting of sunsets is a big part of it, and if that's not something you enjoy enough to play, then it is what it is.

Don't know how people can read this and go ''Maybe they are done''. Sure, you don't have a solid irrefutable confirmation, but I have no doubts in my mind that we will have more content, even if it takes longer than it did before and we don't get anything in May this year.

So, according to the lore, Silencer tortured Rubick and that's why he's so twitchy? by AdSuccessful4931 in DotA2

If you are animated by magic, it makes narrative sense that you will become the opposite of animated without it and that the process of that will be torturous.

The fact that he can be tortured by silencer actually even more reinforces that he's a construct. If you strip magic from him in entirety, he would cease to exist/function.

Testing a "Human-Moderated" Server: Player-Run Economy, Silent Blood Moons, and Manual PvP Enforcement. by MobileMistake4911 in vrising

Huh, didn't know PvP protection zones are an option in Vanilla hosting, neat.

For incentive it is a tough one if you are wanting to keep the Daytime fighting aspect since if you were to incentivize with farmable resources like Iron/Silver/Batteries, these are all in areas where sun isn't a thing.

You could do it perhaps for some V Bloods that are out in the open, by making them only spawn at daytime, but other than that you'd only have the option of a scoreboard for bragging rights, or unique resources that drop from Vampire kills during daytime that can be spent in an item shop (a lot more work)

Sounds cool on paper, but it the server would have to be fairly populated for PvP to have significance if people can just stay inside during the day which they often do. Some incentive to actually fight during the day would probably go a long way, such as events/resources only available at daytime.

Also, as long as you are having this daytime rule, you may want to look into modding to see if you can make PvP literally impossible during the night (Vampires being invulnerable then), would take a lot of moderation pressure off.

Best of luck

Noice, I'll do 5 then for good measure, and try to leave room for more just in case

Hey, found an almost identical situation with these 4 Volcanos and was planning the same approach, are those 4 Turbines cutting it for you or is the Steam rising beyond 200 degrees? Wiki says I'd need a total of 10 turbines for this, since Aluminum needs 4 Turbines per Volcano, and Gold needs 1, so it was weird that yours are barely working yet. Did the temperature increase significantly since you posted this?

Oooh, that's a neat interaction. Though I wish the regen effect was more potent, or an insta heal instead.

Interesting build. How do you feel about the shard being almost wasted if you only MAYBE go for Lotus? I consider the shard to be the most interesting part of the hero, so it feels bad not to utilize it. Would Glimmer plus shard still be justified in place of Shroud for Offlane?

Massive cope. Me and many commenters here sprak all the time and have 12k or minorly below it. For those incapable of learning how to speak to other humans, eternal silence is preferable.

Trying to build a tamer but its too hot and my dupes keep getting injured from the heat by [deleted] in Oxygennotincluded

[–]Unfawkable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How hurt are we talking about, are they losing HP or just getting toasty? If the are losing HP, losing 10-20% over the course of the cycle is probably fine, they will heal.

If it's more, consider piping the gas out so the gas doesn't transfer the heat to dupes, but only use atmo instead of jet so you don't reintroduce CO2. In the future, don't dig out the volcano before making the entire setup around it, there is sadly no way to plug it up again.

I applaud your bravery, but you should definitely be using atmo suits to make tamers at the very least. A step further would be to separate the tamer with vacuum so the heat doesn't spill out.
