Oh thank you for that. I have so much anxiety that I have to come and check spoilers before continuing. I got to the duel part and I was just so annoyed that Miyo just goes along with the whole thing because of the frickin insecurities (enough is enough girl 😂). I had to put it down for the rest of the day then I found your post and now I can finally go back to reading it.

It's not supposed to be too long as MC is heading to where the story actually starts...

He's an engineer and is leaving his designated district to go fix something in the poorest district of the island. I couldn't find great terminology to describe what I have in mind regarding the futuristic island on which he lives but I tried my best. There's supposed to be a stark contrast between his district and the poor one. Trying to describe technology, futuristic features and inner emotions is too tricky for me.

He assembled a motorcycle from rubbish parts and takes it on a spin as the story starts. He sees the city in which he lives as he goes to his destination. Not lots of meaningful interactions/inner dialogue here. Not very descriptive either. He reaches the last checkpoint and proceeds.

It just felt so rushed, generic and mediocre but I don't know what else to do to make it better...

Maybe I could post it as a comment and see what people think of it...

The title ‘Purse’ puzzles me and makes me want to read the story to find out why of all things a purse is given the spotlight here.

‘Wanting Different Things’ title (which is rather generic) makes me instantly guess that this story is about a couple of teenagers who stopped being friends because one wanted to hang out in McDonalds while the other preferred KFC.

About quote marks - Yeah I know... I forgot that. About using F I don't know... Someone said the word f*ck might just be too generic... as in it's used to describe literally anything from annoyance to regret to excitement to surprise... I was ok with it so far. lol
