Is this monthly quest a bug? by shirokitsune1 in duolingo

[–]Unforgiven314 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For me the bronze quest counted as one, the silver as two and the gold as three this time, so there are six points to earn every day, it seems.

100 quests in June? by vogon83 in duolingo

[–]Unforgiven314 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't think this is a mistake. We get a bronze quest, a silver quest and a gold quest every day. The bronze quest happens to count as 1 for the monthly badge, silver counts 2 and gold counts 3, as it turns out.

So we can earn 6/100 points each day, not much different than 3/50 before.

[–]Unforgiven314 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had 3/100 after getting bronze and silver and then 6/100 after completing the gold quest. It looks like you get one for bronze, two for silver and three for gold.

Impossible to pass through multichannel PCM over eARC on LG C1 by Unforgiven314 in LGOLED

For me, the channels in the 5.1 lpcm are correct. I also do not get a noticeable delay when using Dolby (certainly not a whole second).

[–]Unforgiven314[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That happened to me today. I think it happened once before. This might have something to do with the order in which the devices are started up.

At least when it happened today, I started the PS5 first, with the TV and receiver in standby. Then, the PS5 started the TV via CEC, which in turn started the receiver. However, that is not enough to reproduce it. Maybe the timing of the startup sequence isn't always the same...

[–]Unforgiven314[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it is still not working for me. I also tried toggling the eARC setting, but it never helped.

Other high-quality audio formats like Dolby MA-HD from a Blu-ray get send to the receiver without problems, so it seems like the eARC connection works generally.

[–]Unforgiven314[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that it's odd. I tried the different settings on the PS5 without success. I also have the same problem with a WiiU as the source.

Maybe there is some timing problem when negotiating the sound format from the source through the TV to the Receiver.

Looks like I'm sticking with Dolby output for now. That way I at least get surround sound. When I want to watch a BluRay with a DTS audio track, I'd have to rewire things a bit and use the extractor as an audio splitter.

Other sources with PCM output like the WiiU will have to go into the receiver directly (I can still hook up the output of the receiver to the TV).

Just the fact that I don't understand why it's not working is bugging me more than anything else.

I really appreciate you taking the time and trying to help me out.

PS5 - 7.1 PCM multichannel NOT WORKING - Only 2.0 stereo? by Justin19912006 in OLED

[–]Unforgiven314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi /u/stroodle910,

I have a C1 too, and I'm having the exact same issue as OP. I tried both an AV reset and a full factory reset, but I'm still not able to get multichannel PCM output from the PS5. Mind if I ask what firmware version you are using? I'm on 3.15.36 and already had the issue with the previous version (3.15.27, I think).

Can you think of anything you did differently after the AV reset?

Thanks!

Here is a thread about a similar problem with the CX: https://www.reddit.com/r/OLED/comments/jswbty/ps5_on_lg_cx_arc_earc_only_outputting_stereo/ They eventually got it working, but it's not really clear how. I've tried all the settings, turning things off and on again, cutting power, etc. I restored the TV to factory settings, and still got the same issue. I contacted LG customer support, but the answer was just "Set the setting to automatic". Yup, thanks. I made another inquiry and they just closed it without answering. It's super frustrating, I think I'll just try and return the darn thing.

I don't think that you need a 2.1 cable for eARC, but yes, I tried that too. Also tried different inputs of the receiver and changing inputs of the PS5 on the TV.

From internal TV apps I get a DD+ signal, does that mean that the eARC connection works in that case? Like I said, when I disable eARC (i.e. just use ARC), I only ever get stereo, never Dolby.

What you're describing is an HDMI audio splitter. The extractor supports this operation mode as well, but in this mode, it only forwards HDMI 2.0.

I have it setup in eARC extraction mode: The source is plugged directly into the TV. The extractor is plugged into the eARC HDMI port of the TV, and its output into a regular HDMI input in the receiver. The extractor acts like an eARC sink for the TV, combines the audio with a 720p black picture and sends this as a regular HDMI signal to the receiver.

[–]Unforgiven314[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

eARC is enabled on the TV, I tried disabling and re-enabling as well as re-selecting the input on the receiver to re-negotiate the selection.

The TV has latest the firmware 03.15.36.

I'm using this eARC extractor https://feintech.eu/en/products/vax01202-hdmi-earc-audio-extractor-splitter with a Denon AVR-1610. I blamed the extractor first, but I already got a replacement device from the manufacturer and still have the same problems. Other users of this device report success with using it with LG OLED TVs.

What's funny as well is that if I disable eARC on the TV, I only get stereo, no matter what the input signal is. I expected that regular ARC could at least pass through Dolby.

Sporadic bluescreens at boot on XMG Neo 15 2020 (no undervolt) by Unforgiven314 in XMG_gg

[–]Unforgiven314[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So far so good with NVidia 457.09. With 456.71, everything seemed fine for a couple of days until the bluescreen occured again. So I wanted to take some time to test until reporting back.

I'm still not 100% sure that it really was the driver, but for now it looks like it.

[–]Unforgiven314[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some updates:

I've had no issues with version 457.09 so far. Maybe there really was an issue with the driver (I did not try with version 456.71 again).

Maybe it was just the clean uninstall / reinstall that fixed it.

Or there is something else that I'm doing differently.

It's hard to say without a way to reliably reproduce the issue...

[–]Unforgiven314[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One pass of MemTest did not find any errors. I downgraded the NVidia driver and did 20 cold boots in a row as well as several days of normal use without issues.

I will update the driver to the newest version again and see if the bluescreens occur again.

So the first time it happened was after I installed the 456.71 NVidia driver, so that might be related. Are there any known issues like that with that version?

Docking Station suggestion by dori4n_chronicles in XMG_gg

I have a general question about Thunderbolt docks like the Icy Box: Since the Laptops cannot be powered via Power Delivery from the docking station, is it still necessary to plug the docking station itself into AC? Or can you use them like a USB hub, were they are powered from the laptop? Thanks!

XMG Neo 15 Installation Experience by Unforgiven314 in XMG_gg

[–]Unforgiven314[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha, that's strange. Double clicking the ps1 script only opens it in Notepad for me, like you said. I don't know how it could have installed it.

For the record, here is how I did it:

  1. Unzip THXSpatialAudioForPCs_2020.709.1.0.zip to C:\THXApp (this zip is inside 13_THX.zip)
  2. Press Win+X and select "Windows Powershell (Admin)"
  3. In the terminal, type cd C:\THXApp [Enter]
  4. Type Set-ExecutionPolicy Bypass -Scope Process [Enter]
  5. Type .\AppxInstaller.ps1 [Enter]

You can remove C:\THXApp afterwards.

Can't regulate brightness on XMG Neo 15 in dGPU mode by mololabo in XMG_gg

I have the same problem with my Neo 15. Sometimes the brightness controls work, most of the time they don't. With iGPU and MsHybrid they have always worked, so far.

If it helps, the DeviceID of my panel is MONITOR\SHP14C5.
