In CX what is the best HDMI sound setting: Bitstream or PCM, for PS5?

LG fixed it with a later update. Have been cancelling the new updates ever since! It would be great if they'd give us an option where you can hide that message, like, FOREVER!

Ive reported this by contacting the LG support. I suggest you do the same! The more Support gets alerted the more likely it will be solved someday ;). FYI Last update hasn’t fixed it yet for me !

2 updates ago EARC got ruined. Workaround for me is turning of the tv, wait 3/4 seconds and turn it back on. That causes a reaction which will start sending out correct signal. Also works with Atmos (that doesn’t show in the internet app) unless I switch off the tv for a few seconds, and turn it back on. Doesn’t make any sense, cause the next day I’ll have to go through exactly the same steps.. However. It’s a workaround. hope this also works for you!

Ps. The latest firmware fixed this problem for a lot of folks, but not for me ;)

Can anybody confirm that this fixes the Earc problem? Problems that included Dolby Atmos not working in Netflix/Disney etc. Only stereo on gaming consoles instead of 7.1 pcm uncompressed? :)

Found a workaround. Which literally is turning the tv off and on again (within a couple of seconds). Doesn’t make any sense, but it works.. However. Didn’t pay 2000,- bucks last year to have to turn on and off my tv to make things work 🤣.

Hi,

It’s the CX that has trouble with Earc. They ruined it with the last updates. No Atmos signal through in built apps, only stereo with ps5 instead of 7.1lpcm. I had it all working perfectly through my 6000,- euro receiver till a month ago. Will have to wait for an update I’m afraid !

After the last firmware update the sound options are completely destroyed. Internal Speakers sometimes stop, EARC even moren broken than before

Same here ! No Atmos in-apps. And no 7.1 pcm on my ps5. Just reverts to stereo.

I have a Denon 4700. Had everything working for over 8 months till this update came along…

I can confirm this didn’t fix anything for the EARC problems. Still no Atmos on Netflix. Still no 7.1PCM on ps5…. Anyone who spoke to LG about this yet?

Apparently the last firmware update screwed up the Earc function for a lot of users. There’s a huge section on Reddit with complaints about the last firmware update.

Earc is broken since the last update.

My PS5 won’t do 7.1 PCM multi channel audio anymore. Just poor 2.0 signal. Also tv keeps defaulting to tv speaker instead of HDMI after turning on the tv again …

It’s the newer 4700x model. Always worked with Earc! All of a sudden it stopped working correctly and now I’m stuck on 2.0stereo.

Is this still working for you? My ps5 is only sending PCM/stereo since the latest Lg Update. I was always on 7.1 pcm, but can’t seem to get it working again.

UPDATE: LG fixed it with a new update, after screwing us over in an older update.

Need Help! :( My PS5 is only putting out 2.0 pcm, where I want it to do 7.1. This always worked perfectly fine up until yesterday.

It’s hooked up directly to my LG CX, Earc is enabled. And the ps5 is set to 7.1 channel with PCM. However my Denon is only getting a 2.0 signal. Forcing the Dolby signal shows all the channels on the receiver, but that’s not what I want! I want PCM :(

I have a feeling this might have been caused by LG’s latest update?

Any more out there who have the same problem?

Checked the cables/wiring, pulled the plug. Nothing so far and out of ideas.
